Major exit ‘confirmed’ for traumatised Coronation Street character after less than a year
Is Will leaving the Cobbles?

Poor Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) has been through Hell and back thanks to his abuser, Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon). Is saying goodbye to Coronation Street really the answer?
It’s been a turbulent first year on the Cobbles for Will.
Moving into the Rovers with the Driscoll clan in October 2025, the sporty young lad’s time in Weatherfield has been defined by his relationship with his predatory athletics coach, Megan Walsh.
Although she might seem like butter wouldn’t melt, Megan was a sexual predator who used her position of authority to gaslight the boy into a twisted illicit ‘relationship’ right under the nose of his father Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) and stepmother Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley).

That all changed when fellow schoolboy Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) realised something was not right about Will’s relationship with his teacher. Despite Megan’s best efforts to intimidate the lad into silence, Will eventually confessed her crimes to his mother Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).
This resulted in the devastation of the Driscoll family, with Ben determined to get justice for his son while Leanne joined forces with Eva and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor to get a confession out of Megan vigilante-style.

Unfortunately, the police could not charge Megan seeing as the manipulative Miss Walsh had been careful not to leave a shred of evidence behind… other than the baby she was pregnant with.
This is where Will’s murderous Granny Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) comes into the picture.
Having pushed her husband to his death years ago, she’s someone who would do whatever’s necessary to protect her family. So when Megan refused to admit to her crimes, Maggie responded with a violent shove… which Megan claims made her lose the baby, when in fact, she had a termination in secret.

All that time, Will continued to believe that Megan loved him and planned to run away with him to France, where they would start a new life.
However, this was merely another one of Megan’s lies, because when an excited Will gave her a book called ‘The Lover’s Guide To Paris’, she threw it in the bin behind his back.
Although a future in Paris might not be in the cards, Will may be exiting Coronation Street soon for the wilds of Scotland… if his mother Melanie (Cindy Humphreys) has anything to say about it.
Understandably, Melanie was horrified to hear that WIll had been groomed and was less than impressed to realise that neither Ben, Eva or Maggie had the first clue it was happening.

If Melanie had her way, she’d take Will to live with her in Scotland. And Melanie might just get her way, seeing as she’s got the goods on Maggie.
Because Mel has stayed in touch with Maggie’s other son Finlay, she’s well aware that Alan Driscoll’s ‘fall down the stairs’ all those years ago was no accident – which it wasn’t. It was Maggie losing her temper when he threatened to spill the tea about Ben’s real father being Jim McDonald (Charles Lawson)

In upcoming scenes, Melanie offers Will a new life outside of Coronation Street. Will he take it?
In the wake of the Megan trauma, Melanie calls at the Rovers, she tells Ben that it’s high time Will came to live with herbut Ben won’t hear of it.
Then Ben drops a bombshell about Megan. Eva steps in and explains to Melanie that Megan had them all taken in, so she mustn’t blame Ben. Will Eva get through to Melanie?
At the Rovers, Melanie suggests to Will that he should come and live with her in Scotland no.Melanie looks to Maggie, expecting her full support, but she remains silent. Ben is dead against it, Melanie ramps up the pressure on Will but he loses his temper and storms out.
Once alone, a resigned Maggie promises Melanie that she’ll talk Will round.
But later in the week, it’s Ben who makes progress when he reluctantly suggests to Will that it might do him good to go and live with his Mum for a while. To his surprise, Will agrees to go the next day.
Is this truly goodbye for Will Driscoll?
