EastEnders lines up return for Max and Cindy’s wedding in surprise update
They'd likely come back to some major fireworks.

EastEnders has lined up one character’s surprising return to Albert Square as Max Branning and Cindy Beale’s wedding nears.
The episode opened with Priya Nandra-Hart helping set up for the engagement party in The Queen Vic, sharing some barbed insults with Cindy (who is still completely unaware that she slept with Max on the night she initially turned down his proposal).
Later on, as the party got underway, Gina Knight told Cindy that her daughter Anna would have been there if she could, but she’s still halfway across the world in Australia travelling with Freddie Slater.
“She’s coming to the wedding though, isn’t she?” Peter asked, to which Cindy replied: “Of course.”
There’s no official confirmation at the moment that Anna actor Molly Rainford is returning to the BBC One soap, and while we’re at it, we don’t even know if Max and Cindy’s wedding will actually go ahead.
The New Year’s Day flashforward episode showed Max waking up on his wedding day, but specifically didn’t say who the bride was.
Tonight’s episode saw Cindy grow suspicious of Priya’s constant digs, while Max hooked up with her again as the doof-doof rang out.
If their engagement ends up getting cancelled, it’s very believable that Max could get engaged to another woman by the end of the year. But we’ll have to wait and see how things play out.
Elsewhere, Lee Carter got a mention in the episode as his mum Linda opened some birthday cards in the café. It’s unlikely that the mention is a setup for Lee’s return, as actor Danny Hatchard recently said that his future was “outside of Walford”.
