Emmerdale confirms big café change as Kev Townsend causes more chaos

Emmerdale‘s Kev Townsend continues to try to build a relationship with Lewis Barton next week, as father and son start working together.

Deciding to give his biological dad another chance, Lewis hires hot-headed Kev for a job at the café – what could possibly go wrong?

“He may bake a mean lemon drizzle cake, but Kev’s customer service skills leave a lot to be desired,” warns our Emmerdale insider. “Working at the café could bring him and Lewis closer together, but it’s also a recipe for disaster. And you can be sure Ross and Nicola won’t approve…”

Since revealing his true identity to stunned Lewis, Kev has been keen to make up for lost time and be a proper father figure to his boy. However, big brother Ross and business partner Nicola are both super protective of Lewis, and are hoping Kev gets the hint that he’s not wanted and leaves town.

The pair are conspiring to find ways to despatch Kev, and Ross assures his accomplice it won’t be long before the crim is history. But just how far are they prepared to go to banish Kev from the village?

Sensing Lewis is conflicted about Kev being around, Nicola has a pang of guilt about denying her friend the chance to get to know his real dad. Do she and Ross have the right to interfere?

Confused as to how he should move forward with regards to his feckless father, Lewis gives himself a talking to and makes a big decision. When Nicola later arrives at the café, she’s taken aback to discover Lewis has taken on a new employee – guess who’s joining the team?

“Lewis has only gone and given Kev a job,” continues our source. “It’s a nice gesture, but volatile Kev can’t help himself and is soon clashing with the customers.

“There’s a stand-off with miffed Mandy, putting Lewis in a tricky position. Whose side does he take – his dad’s, or his boyfriend’s no-nonsense mum?”

With Kev threatening to fly off the handle, Lewis wonders if he’s made a terrible mistake by bringing him into his workplace. Could this ruin things between the long-lost relatives, or can Kev keep calm and prove himself to everyone who doubts him?
