EastEnders’ Penny Branning rushed to hospital in terrifying health plot

EastEnders’ Penny Branning is rushed to Walford General next week, after her uncle Max and Priya Nandra-Hart discover her struggling to breathe. What’s wrong with her?
Having worked her socks off for the last few months, Penny heads to her new shop to celebrate its grand opening. However, the mum-to-be never makes it to honour the special occasion as she suffers a medical emergency…
“It’s a truly terrifying moment,” reveals our EastEnders source. “Out of the blue, Penny’s airways fail her and she’s left unable to breathe properly.
“Thankfully, Max and Priya are close by and pick up on what’s happening, so they deliver Penny to the hospital as quickly as they can. But have they acted fast enough?”
As the week begins, Vinny notices that Penny is totally fixated on organising the final touches for her shop, so he urges her to slow down and think about their baby.
But it’s not until later that Penny realises just how upset Vinny is about the situation and agrees to attend an antenatal class with him. Will Penny get on board with the session?
“Penny goes to the class for Vinny’s sake,” explains our insider. “You can see by the picture that she’s not massively invested in it. Still, it’s kind of her to consider Vinny’s feelings and show her face despite her inner reservations.”
Later in the week, Vinny tries to persuade Penny to see a doctor after her leg becomes swollen, but the mum-to-be brushes off his concern.
In fact, Penny becomes so irked by Vinny’s insistence she seek treatment that she orders him to leave her alone. Vinny respects his girlfriend’s wishes – but not long afterwards, disaster strikes…
“Penny falls out of her wheelchair,” shares our source. “Suki is the one to find her, and she gently suggests that Penny should start accepting help from Vinny.
“The exchange leaves Penny feeling guilty, but even so, she heads out to attend the opening of her shop. Little does she know that her health is about to take a terrible turn…”
