EastEnders reveals major consequences for Craig in Joel attack mystery

EastEnders newcomer DC Craig Ingram faces major consequences next week, as he gets word of a serious complaint made against him.

Matthew James-Bailey joined the soap over the last few weeks as Craig, one of Jack Branning’s police colleagues who is taking on some of his workload while his partner Denise Fox undergoes intensive chemotherapy.

Craig is trying to get to the truth about who attacked Joel, with the teens currently remaining schtum about who hit him over the head with a hammer following the group’s shocking revenge plot.

Secrets are continuing to be revealed about the case, including Lily confessing to setting Joel free before the attack and Denzel and Avani sneaking off to share an unexpected kiss that night.

During his investigation, Craig has grown particularly close to Amy – to the increasing concern of viewers. This week, after Amy has a row with her dad over the situation, she tells Craig an important truth.

As Amy privately frets about what she’s said, next week Craig is called to the station and informed by his superior that a serious complaint has been made against him. This means that the copper is suspended from public duty policing – and taken off the Joel case.

Tensions are still high between Amy and Joel, and when the pair have another argument in the Square, Vicki wades into their row and has a go at Amy for stirring the pot.

Amy is overwhelmed by the stress of the case, so later meets up with Craig again. He promises the teen that he will be there for her throughout this ordeal, and she is grateful for his support.

But does Craig really have Amy’s best interests at heart, and will Amy’s loved ones get suspicious about Craig’s behaviour?

Later in the week, Ross is annoyed when he finds out about Amy lashing out at Joel. His day gets even worse when Craig informs him that he is no longer on the case, leaving him wondering if his son’s attacker will ever be exposed.

Ross finds Amy and stands up for his son, then invites Joel to join his and Vicki’s movie night that evening. The fractured family may finally be getting back on track, but will there be more developments ahead?
