‘Messed her around’: Sarah Abo’s shock move as she’s left with ‘no alternative’
The Today show may be suffering another major setback after a year of turmoil.

The Today show may be suffering another major setback, with beloved host Sarah Abo rumoured to be jumping ship to rival network Channel Seven.
After Karl Stefanovic’s dramatic Nine departure earlier this year, just before Sarah went on maternity leave, things are going from bad to worse for Channel Nine as they navigate what’s next for the Today show.
Sarah’s ‘fresh start’ as Seven closes in

A source close to production alleges to Woman’s Day that the treatment of Sarah from Nine has been ‘poor’.
“It is almost certain Sarah is going to go to Seven – the way Nine have messed her around if the rumours are true is appalling,” the insider hints. “Someone like Sarah deserves respect and this is very poor treatment.”
With Sam Armytage circling back around breakfast TV, the insider says that Seven has had their sights set on Sarah for some time.
“If Nine think Sam is the answer then they need to go back to the drawing board!” they claim, adding, “Seven have had their sights on Sarah for a long time – they can use her across so many platforms and if it’s Melbourne then at least Sarah is where she wants to be.”
Sarah and her husband Cyrus uprooted their lives to move to Sydney for the Today show in 2023.

“If Nine don’t see her value by now then it leaves her no alternative but to go over to Seven,” the source says, saying the network is hoping to win her over soon.
“She deserves a fresh start, and Seven are moving mountains to create the perfect role for her… she will be so much happier once she knows she has something concrete to go to at Seven.”
Sam Armytage set for Today?

With former Seven star Sam Armytage filling in breakfast TV slots while Sarah’s on maternity leave, many are wondering if that fill-in role will become far more permanent.
Sam told TV Week at the recent Logies that she “loves” breakfast TV and teased that everyone should “watch this space”.
“I’m just filling in,” she told TV WEEK. “I love breakfast TV, it’s always fun, I’ve always loved it, it’s a good bunch of people. I’ve had a good time filling in and we’ll see.
“I turn 50 next month and I feel like I’m really hitting my straps. This is a good time for me, so watch this space. Life is fun. It should be fun and it is. So here we go!”
