‘I am a completely different person now’: How Channel 7 star changed her life

After weather presenter Jane Bunn realised she was feeling different, she decided to act.

She’s the Channel Seven meteorologist tasked with predicting Melbourne’s famously changeable weather – and yet behind the scenes Jane Bunn has been undergoing a change of her own.

The 47-year-old, who has graced the screens of Seven for almost 12 years, has wowed viewers in recent months – showing off the results of a doctor-recommended health kick.

The catalyst? A feeling that she was “much less fit” than she used to be.

Channel Seven star Jane Bunn has wowed viewers with her transformation.

“I grew up as a dancer and all of that just seemed like a very long time ago,” Jane admitted in a candid chat with the Herald Sun in January 2026, adding that the “real kicker” came when the Seven News Melbourne team moved to a new studio which meant she would appear in a “full shot” on-screen.

Jane shared that the realisation made her go, ‘Wow, what is going on there, Jane?’ and she sought expert advice, which led to change she put “a lot of effort into”.

The star – who is married to IT consultant husband Michael – told how moderation and a doctor-recommended health plan were key to her transformation.

“Eat less, drink less,” Jane told the Herald Sun of her approach.

“There is actually this sign in your head that tells you ‘you have eaten enough’ and I struggled with that for a very long time – about actually listening to that –  and now I do.

“I love food, I love wine, I love going out for dinners, I love all of that sort of stuff and it is also about telling yourself that you are going to get to eat again.

“I know that sounds really weird, but … you don’t need to eat every single thing that is in front of you, only eat the amount until you are actually satisfied.”

Jane Bunn decided to prioritise her health after feeling less fit than she used to.

The star went on to say she still drinks wine, but in “small sips” which make her realise ‘Oh, that tastes really good’.

“I still eat what I want to, it is just heaps less,” she added, explaining she now walks every day too.

“Whereas I used to sit at a desk for very, very long periods of time, now I make myself get up and actually move,” she added.

Viewers have been quick to notice Jane’s on-screen transformation, flooding the star with messages of admiration on her social media pages.

“Jane you look simply stunning,” one fan wrote as Jane shared an image of herself in a black dress and red shoes from the studio on July 24.

“Looking good Jane,” another wrote simply.

Jane Bunn has been gracing the screens of Seven for almost 12 years.

Indeed, Jane has been something of a viewer favourite for many years.

In 2018, one super fan – known only as Scott – even had the weather presenter’s face tattooed on his rib cage.

But while Jane had physically transformed in recent months, she also recently revealed how her mental health is “so much better” too.

In a social media video posted to her Instagram on August 19, Jane told how mental fitness is now as important to her as physical fitness these days.

“For my mental fitness, I find it’s really important just to take some time that is solely for you. Even if it’s just a short period of time,” she said.

“I made this change recently and I am a completely different person now because of it.”
