EastEnders’ Roxy draws Amy closer to creepy Craig – who is hiding a secret

Craig Ingram (Matthew James Bailey) continues to manipulate Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) next week in EastEnders, as the insidious grooming plot gets even darker.

The policeman turned up as part of the investigation into Joel Marshall’s (Max Murray) attack, which saw him smashed over the head and left for dead, with Amy forming part of the line up of suspects.

Determined to find out exactly what evidence the police had, Amy attempted to get close to Craig, but instantly found herself out-manipulated, and eventually confessed all to him, and while he was initially contemplating reporting her admission, he soon found himself off the case.

See, Craig’s creepy behaviour toward young, vulnerable Amy isn’t the first time he’s been inappropriate professionally.

After previously facing an investigation due to gross misconduct, his boss suspended him as it turned out another complaint had been levelled against him, this time due to engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a female colleague.

Yeah, he’s pretty grim is Craig, and when he told Amy that he’d simply chosen to keep her name out of the case, while also neglecting to tell her that he’d been suspended, it became clear that he was about to get even grimmer.

And grimmer it got, when Craig asked Amy out for a drink, subsequently ordering her a double gin – when she’d requested a single – before getting her to open up about her current troubles, while also calling her an ‘old soul’, surrounded by a ‘childish’ friend group.

He then kissed her.

When Amy’s dad and Craig’s colleague, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), discovered that they’d been texting, he confronted Craig, who told him all about Amy’s guilt in relation to Joel, before continuing to message her in secret.

Next week sees Craig begin to ignore Amy, riling her up, before he finally agrees to a meet up, where he blames his ignorance on his increasing workload. Y’know, the workload he doesn’t have? Because he’s suspended?

Soon, Amy falls further into his trap when she begins to expose her trauma over the death of her mum, Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons), and her fear of losing step mum, Denise Fox (Diane Parish) to cancer, but when he notices the scars from her past self-harm, she flees.

By the end of the week, though, she’s caught right back up in his web. With a long way to go in this dark plot, it’s doubtful anybody will realise and intervene at this point, but just how bad will it get for Amy?
