Who plays DC Price in Emmerdale?

To date, the character of DC Price has only appeared in two episodes of Emmerdale.

Across his short time on the soap, he has helped DS Thea Ramsden in Dr Caitlin Todd’s murder investigation; Dr Todd was accidentally killed by Sarah Sugden last month.

Initially Charity, who was sexually assaulted by the villainous doctor, and Sarah joined forces to cover up Sarah’s crime, claiming Charity hit Dr Todd in self-defence.

But upon discovering that her baby was actually Charity’s biological child, Sarah furiously withdrew her witness statement and claimed Charity forced her to lie.

Charity was then arrested for Dr Todd’s murder, despite being innocent.

Later feeling guilty for her actions, Sarah attempted to reinstate her original statement, but was then held for further interrogation by DS Ramsden and DC Price.

Price captured the audience’s attention, as many keen-eyed viewers recognised actor Dean Smith from a plethora of different roles. What has he appeared in?

What has Emmerdale actor Dean Smith been in before?

Dean Smith is a 36-year-old actor from Leeds, best known for playing Phillip Ryan in the BBC One drama Waterloo Road.

Dean Smith is most recognised for his work on Waterloo Road between 2009 and 2010

He appeared in 32 episodes across series four and five of the show from 2009 to 2010, before reprising the role for Waterloo Road Reunited in 2011.

Along with that, Smith has portrayed characters in Casualty, The Village, Doctors, and Sally Wainwright’s two-time BAFTA award-winning TV series, Last Tango in Halifax.

Smith has plenty of soap experience too, acting as DS Yates across 26 episodes of Channel 4 drama Hollyoaks between 2018 and 2019, while also appearing in three episodes of Coronation Street.

If that doesn’t ring any bells for Emmerdale fans certain they’ve seen the 36-year-old actor on their screen before, then they might just recognise him from earlier seasons of the ITV soap drama.

That’s because before playing DC Price, Smith enjoyed work on the Emmerdale set in 2022 as he depicted Prison Officer Beeker across six episodes.
