Jodie snares David on Coronation Street as Shona utterly spirals

It’s getting harder and harder to see a future where Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) stays on Coronation Street.

She was a villain from the off. A good old fashioned bunny-boiler somewhere between Single White Female and Hand That Rocks The Cradle, with a bit of Fatal Attractions thrown in for good measure.

Since her arrival this year, Jodie’s been a cuckoo in the nest of her half-sister Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), determined to steal her family from right under her nose – including her husband, David (Jack P Shepherd).

The reason for this revenge? Shona ran away from home as a pregnant teenage mum,’abandoning’ Jodie to their toxic father Doug (Steve Evets) all those years ago. And Jodie is not the forgiving type.

Some of the things Jodie has done have been pretty off the wall, but fun to watch, such as the time she got in bed with a drunk David dressed in Shona’s lingerie and hoped he wouldn’t notice he was in bed with the wrong sister. Classic comedy Cobbles capers.

However, there’s been a steady escalation in the twisted Ramsey sister’s antics lately. From keeping a stolen gun in the house to assaulting Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), Jodie’s growing ever darker.

Now the Cobbles Cuckoo in the nest has passed the point of no return, endangering Shona’s premature daughter baby Harper by pouring boiling water into her bath tub. This is all part of her evil scheme to make Shona look like an unfit mother, and all the gaslighting is starting to work.

However, the villainous vixen’s masterplan has been complicated by the return of their father Doug.

The last time we saw Doug, it was earlier this year when Shona learned that her estranged father was being treated on a psychiatric ward for bipolar disorder. Despite Doug’s pleas for Shona not to believe a word her sister said, Jodie managed to terrify her dad into silence.

Now he’s back, you’d think Jodie would put the brakes on her scheme. But being put in a corner only makes her more dangerous, as we’ll soon discover in upcoming episodes of Coronation Street.

When Jodie enters carrying a huge bunch of flowers, she makes out that they’re a gift from her date, Shona’s impressed.

However, when Shona tells David she found out from Mary (Patti Clare) that Jodie bought herself the flowers, David confirms that her date was cancelled when she was in the salon.It looks like Jodie’s up to no good…

… and later, we get confirmation of her nefarious intent as Jodie rummages through Doug’s belongings and swaps his anti-psychotic drugs for ordinary painkillers. What is she up to?

Later in the week, we see Jodie’s weaving her web of lies around her own dad as Doug eyes the radio with suspicion and then shoves it in a cupboard. David and Shona watch with alarm whilst Jodie’s delighted to note that his paranoia is kicking in.

When a fretful Doug remarks that he can hear static coming from the radio, Jodie turns up the volume but makes out she’s no idea what he’s talking about.

Meanwhile, Lily (Grace Ashcroft Gardner) rounds on Shona and accuses her of always putting Harper first. When Lily remarks that Jodie always makes time for her, Shona feels terrible.

It seems Jodie’s quest to steal Shona’s family is going better than ever. While snaring David seems like an unlikely prospect, Jodie is slowly but surely eroding the family’s confidence in Shona. And when Shona’s at lowest ebb, David will need a shoulder to cry on.

Is it only a matter of time?
