EastEnders’ Rita Simons breaks silence on Roxy Mitchell return rumours after reuniting with Ronnie star Sam Womack

EASTENDERS legend Rita Simons has broken her silence on the Roxy Mitchell return rumours, as she reunited with co-star Sam Womack.
The beloved pair, who were known for playing Walford’s Mitchell sisters, were a huge part of the soap for almost a decade until they were bumped off in a bizarre drowning plot.

Rita, 49, and Samantha, 53, have remained close since they were axed from the soap nearly ten years ago.
Now the two women have got together to finally put the record straight about their “return” to Walford.
It came after fans once again speculated that the pair would be making a comeback, with Rita posting a rolling eye emoji at the latest theory.
But today, the actress posted a slew of pics of her and Sam together, and penned: “So…before anyone asks…we are just 2 mates hanging out. No secret signals we promise. Please don’t say it!

“We want to assure you…we are dead! We aren’t coming back…I am saying it now before the comments start.
“We loved every second of being R and R and we are still like sisters….but we are definitely dead.
“Working on some other exciting things together that we hope we will be able to tell you more about soon! Until then…it’s just me and @samzjanus being t**ts on the beach!”
Fans were left heartbroken when Sam and Rita’s EastEnders characters died after meeting a watery end on New Year’s Day 2017.
In one of the soap’s more unexpected moments, they passed away in a hotel swimming pool on Ronnie’s wedding day.
After the bride attempted to go for a drunken dip in her bridal gown, she started to struggle as the weight of the dress made it difficult to stay above water.
Roxy dived in to help – but ultimately both of them drowned.
