EASTENDERS’ off-screen couple Shona McGarty and Tony Discipline will get married he said – as he walked the red carpet with a huge present for her.
The former soap stars confirmed their relationship to The Sun earlier this year and after a summer of love it seems the pair are getting serious.
Tony, who played Tyler Moon on the BBC show, walked the red carpet at the opening night of Shona’s new West End production, From The Heart.
He certainly looked like a man in love as he clutched a huge present – a red rose – and a card, which had the words “Mi Amor xxx” penned on the front.
Speaking on the red carpet, Tony confessed things were “serious” with Shona.
He said: “100% yeah absolutely that’s my lady.” When asked if the pair could tie the knot soon, Tony added: “Absolutely that’s the love of my life. I’ve known her a long time.”
Tony and Shona, 34, met 15 years ago when he joined the soap – her character Whitney embarked on a romance with Tyler before Tony left the show in 2013.
After knowing each other for so many years Tony explained why he felt the pair hadn’t explored a relationship sooner.
“We’ve always had partners, so we never stepped over the line. But in the last year or so our chemistry has really come to light,” he added.
Tony couldn’t stop gushing over Shona, he said: “She’s just the best woman in the world.
“Her energy, she’s so funny, she makes me laugh every day. I’m a very lucky man, I’m a very lucky man to have her and she’s got a beautiful voice hasn’t she?
“I don’t want anyone else in my life. That’s my woman, that’s my soulmate.”
While the loved-up pair are not currently living together, Tony has told how “they will do” soon.
The 37-year-old was incredibly proud of his girlfriend and “couldn’t wait” to watch her perform.
“I’ve seen the amount of effort she’s put in, I’ve seen the amount of training she’s put in and I know what a talent she is. And listen that’s my lady. So, I’m very excited and proud to watch her,” added Tony.
Rumours of Shona and Tony’s romance started in March, after they thrilled fans when they shared a sweet selfie together on St Patrick’s Day.
Shona confessed when they confirmed their romance that she’s “always had a soft spot” for Tony.
