Coronation Street’s biggest stars raking in an extra £500 a day as tour guides after ITV budget cuts

Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd is cashing in on his soap fame by earning an extra £500 a time showing fans around the iconic cobbles.

The actor, who plays David Platt in the ITV soap, has joined the roster of guides at the show’s studios in Greater Manchester – giving fans the chance to meet one of Weatherfield’s best-known faces.

And the money is a handy extra for Jack, who has recently entered a new chapter of his life as a dad with partner Hanni Treweek.

The couple welcomed their baby Constance in June adding to Jack’s family life away from the cameras.

Jack, who has played David since 2000, is now helping Corrie bosses boost their studio tours, with tickets for the star experiences costing £57 per person.

One delighted visitor wrote on TripAdvisor: “The experience was brilliant. Went with my daughter and we both enjoyed it so much.

“Our guide Scott was so knowledgeable and really funny and we got to meet Jack P Shepherd who was very friendly.”

The tours give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the long-running soap’s famous setting, with special appearances from cast members adding an extra attraction.

The tour website said of previous star appearances: “Our most recent Star Tours featured Coronation Street legend, Sally Dynevor, who brilliantly plays the unforgettable Sally Webster.

“And the talented Sam Aston, who brings the lovable Chesney Winter-Brown to life.

“And that’s just the beginning. In previous tours, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting esteemed actors Chris Gascoyne, who portrays the charismatic Peter Barlow.

“[As well as] Julia Goulding, the embodiment of Shona Platt, and Andy Whyment who plays ‘the king of packing’ Kirk Sutherland.”
