I’ve invited Wayne Rooney out for karaoke after he cried at my EastEnders death says Barry star Shaun Williamson

SHAUN Williamson has revealed he thought it was AI when he saw a clip
of Wayne Rooney admitting he cried when Barry died in EastEnders.

The 60-year-old, best known for playing the character who was pushed
over a cliff by Janine, now plans to invite the footy star to join him
for his last ever Barrioke show this year – and call it Rooneyioke.

Shaun Williamson has issued a huge invite to Wayne Rooney for his upcoming karaoke finale
It comes after former England ace Wayne admitted he cried over Coronation Street and Eastenders

In a clip from his new docuseries, The Real Rooneys, Wayne was asked
what made him emotional as a dad – and his response surprised people.

He replied: “I cry at everything anyway. I’ve cried over some mad
things – Coronation Street, X Factor.

“When Barry got pushed off the hill by Janine in EastEnders I think I was crying, so I’m pretty sure I would cry at that.”

Speaking to The Sun about the bizarre moment, Shaun said: “I was sent
through that screenshot of their show.

Wayne told how the passing of Shaun’s character Barry in EastEnders – after he was pushed off a cliff – left him sobbing
He has now invited the pundit to his final Barrioke stage show
Shaun joked how he would dub the singing show Rooneyioke
He has teamed up with Cazoo’s latest car campaign

“For all I knew it could have been someone just knocking it up and
they’re making it look like he’s saying that. It’s really difficult – you’re never quite sure what you’re looking at.”

Once he realised Wayne was indeed a fan, he continued: “It’s crazy
isn’t it? At least it’s a reference point if ever I meet him.”

And a meeting could happen sooner rather than later as he plans to
invite karaoke lover Wayne to sing with him.

This year will mark the end of Barrioke, Shaun’s live and interactive
karaoke party – and he’s planning to go out with a bang.

Explaining his decision to call it a day, he said: “We’ve had six
brilliant years of it.

“We’ve been so lucky and we’ve had a blast but
everything needs a rest and maybe bring it back with a different angle
or we get Wayne Rooney involved.

“The last show – Rooneyioke.”

Shaun, who is working with Cazoo to raise awareness of clocking, is
now looking forward to another lucrative panto season and is desperate
to land a place on The Masked Singer.

But for now he’s turned back the years for his new campaign – with a
little help from AI.

He said: “Seeing myself de-aged was a trip down memory lane, but it’s
actually all to highlight a really serious issue – technology can
trick people.

“Turning the clock back on my face is a bit of fun – perhaps I can get
away with it as my new profile pic! But rogues can use the exact same
concept to wipe years of use and thousands of miles off a car’s
dashboard.

“Barry Evans was famous for getting taken for a ride, usually by
Janine, but nobody should get cheated when buying a car.

‘Any motorist could be at risk of buying a clocked car, yet altering the mileage
isn’t even a specific offence in the UK.

“That’s why I support Cazoo’s call on the government to close this loophole once and for all.”
