Australian reality star Konrad Bien-Stephen dead at 35

Konrad Bien-Stephen, Bachelorette contestant and ex-partner to Abbie Chatfield, has died at the age of 35, his manager has confirmed.

Australian reality TV star Konrad Bien-Stephen has died at the age of 35, his manager has confirmed to news.com.au.

“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Konrad Bien-Stephen. We ask that you respect the privacy of their family during this incredibly difficult time. No further information will be shared at this stage. Our thoughts are with all who loved him,” Bien-Stephen’s talent manager Ella Dolan said in a statement today.

“We ask that media and the public respect the privacy of his family, refrain from speculation, and treat his memory with dignity, not as a headline. He will be deeply missed.”

Bien-Stephen was a fan favourite on the 2021 season of The Bachelorette Australia and made it to the semifinal of The Challenge Australia a year later.

Konrad shot to fame on the 2021 season of The Bachelorette …
… and later dated fellow Bach star Abbie Chatfield.

But the reality TV star was perhaps better known for his personal life off-screen: In 2021 he started dating fellow Bach star Abbie Chatfield, a pairing that made headlines when she revealed that they were in an open relationship.

That romance ended in 2022, the same year he came out as pansexual.

“I guess I wanted to confirm that yeah, Konrad and I have broken up. We’ve been broken up for a couple of months now,” Chatfield told her followers in a September 2022 video.

“No one did anything bad or awful, there’s no drama to it. It was not because we were in an open relationship. Nothing bad happened,” she said.

Bien-Stephen later entered into a new relationship with ARIA-winning singer-songwriter Thelma Plum.
