Emmerdale confirms Ross Barton’s sad new struggle in baby plot
Can he keep the truth to himself?

Emmerdale‘s Ross Barton battles his instant paternal bond with baby Leyla next week, after Jacob Sugden invites him to a family gathering.
Despite trying to keep his distance from his secret biological daughter, Ross finds himself trapped in an awkward position when he’s asked to join her homecoming party. Will he accept the invitation to help welcome baby Leyla into the world?
“Ross wants to keep well away from his daughter,” explains our Emmerdale source. “He’s hoping if he keeps his distance, he won’t grow attached to her.
“But his secret baby girl is too close for comfort, and he can’t keep away…”
After baby Leyla’s dramatic birth in the hospital lift, Sarah and Jacob can’t wait to take her home. Now that they’re her official parents, it’s time to begin their exciting new chapter as a family and finally settle her into the village.
Having had such a chaotic start to life, Leyla has plenty of people who are eager to meet her now she’s home at Farrers Barn. And of course, one of her first visitors just happens to be her secret dad.
“Ross is sitting on this huge lie,” our spy reminds us. “Not only does he know the truth about Leyla’s conception, he’s now best mates with Charity’s hubby.
“And despite Sarah and Jacob having no clue, it’s an extremely awkward first meeting with baby Leyla…”
When Ross and Mackenzie Boyd arrive with a gift from Moses, Sarah and Jacob are enjoying spending time with their new daughter.
First-time dad Jacob invites them in, but it suddenly gets uncomfortable when Ross expresses his reluctance to give Leyla a cuddle.
Oblivious to the awkwardness, because of their newborn bubble of love, the young parents invite Ross and Moses to their family gathering happening later that day. Ross stumbles, thinking of an excuse, but will he get out of going to the party?
“Biologically, Leyla is Moses’ new baby sister – but that’s top secret,” points out our source. “Ross might be itching to tell, but with Charity still fragile from her difficult birth, now it would be a terrible time to blow the secret.
“But how long before Ross’ affection gives the game away?”
