Coronation Street reveals why Ronnie Bailey could kill Carl next week

Ronnie can begin to have dark thoughts.

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Ahead of Coronation Street‘s murder mystery week, star Vinta Morgan has teased why his character Ronnie Bailey could be pushed to kill to protect his wife Debbie Webster.

One of the possible victims in the line-up is Carl Webster, Debbie’s secret son who believed he was her brother for his entire life. On Debbie’s wedding day, Carl’s drunk-driving led to the horrific events of the Corriedale crash, after which he swapped places with his mum to make it seem as though she’d been the one driving under the influence.

Carl’s actions led to a stint in prison for Debbie, robbing her of time with her loved ones – time which she doesn’t have, as she is suffering from dementia which is rapidly progressing.

In an exclusive chat with Inside Soap on the Coronation Street set in Manchester, Vinta Morgan reveals that it was this cruel act that has caused Ronnie to hate Carl so much.

“Carl’s been causing so much stress to Debbie, and there’s a narcissistic side where he can be very hurtful. Him putting in her in prison willingly was a red line that was crossed,” Vinta explains.

“From that point on, Ronnie fixated on: ‘How do I remove a problem that’s affecting my wife’s health?’ They’re trying to have as many good moments together before the dark times come. That’s a reason why Ronnie can begin to have dark thoughts.”

Not only did Carl land Debbie behind bars, he’s also been manipulating her out of her money. It all became too much for Debbie this week, though, as she offered to pay Carl off if he left Weatherfield and never returned.

However, it might not be that simple for Carl, as he’s in the murder line-up – and Vinta reckons that Ronnie could be his killer.

“For Ronnie, Debbie’s a special entity worthy of love. He sees the gentle flower being trampled on and he’s not going to allow that,” he reasons.

“If he’s pushed to a particular point where there’s an issue that cannot be stopped, if someone is threatened that he loves, Ronnie could kill!”
