Tommy Little’s surprise new passion revealed: ‘It sounds sus and I promise it’s not’

The comedian and radio host has revealed his secret post-show ritual, describing it as looking like a ‘full blown breakdown’.

Tommy Little has revealed the unusual side gig he’s taken to performing in theatre toilets after his recent comedy shows.

This week, the 41-year-old comedian told the Stellar podcast he’s picked up an unexpected hobby while spending the past year trying to “better myself”.

“I’ve become obsessed with poetry. It’s so embarrassing. I’m reading it, writing it, all of it,” he told Something To Talk About host Sarrah Le Marquand on this week’s episode.

“At my stand-up gigs, I’ve just started doing a secret little gig afterwards where I read people some poems,” he explained.

“I take them into the – it sounds sus and I promise it’s not – but I take them into the toilet of the theatre, like five or six people, and I stand on the sh*tter and read poetry.”

The comedian, who has carved out a career in stand-up, radio and television, says reading poetry makes him feel “so vulnerable”.

In a Stellar exclusive, Tommy Little has revealed his secret passion that he says makes him feel vulnerable.

“I break out in a full body sweat, and so if someone was to walk past, they’d see a man standing on a toilet while five strangers watch him, and it would look like a full blown breakdown,” he joked.

Earlier in the interview, the radio star admitted he had come to the realisation that he was the reason he’s still single in his early 40s, so he’d set out to explore a year of wellness in the hopes that he could be better equipped for relationships and, perhaps one day, fatherhood.

“This was essentially a year of trying to make myself a more viable partner, and hopefully a potential father, one day,” he shared.

‘I’m the problem!’ The comedian and radio host has been working on himself.

“I’ve had enough relationships to realise I’m the problem, I’m the only common denominator here.

“So I just spent a year trying to better myself … but it didn’t go very well.”

The former The Project co-host admitted he’s wanted to have children for a long time – a desire he has spoken about often – but hasn’t been in the right relationship to make it happen.

“The truth is I’ve wanted them for quite some time, but I haven’t put the work into maintaining relationships to a point where it’s a good option for both of us involved,” he said.

“It hasn’t been until recently that I’ve really got my head out of my own arse and realised that there’s things that I can work on to be a better potential partner.

“And then hopefully get to the point of having kids with someone – and making each other really happy and making a family really happy.”
