Soap star heartbroken by death of beloved mum as he pays tribute to her after sad loss

A HOLLYOAKS and Coronation Street actor has been left heartbroken as he revealed his beloved mum has passed away.

The soap star took to social media to share the sad news of his mum’s passing in a sweet tribute.

Bob Cryer, who is the son of legendary British comic Barry Cryer, posted a photo collage made up of snaps of his late mum on Instagram.

Alongside the snaps, he penned: “The end of a golden era. I promise that the 94 years of love, warmth and generosity you showed us will live on in our family, friends, neighbours and all who knew you.

“Fare forward and thank you mum.” 

The 52-year-old’s fans and former Hollyoaks castmates rushed to the comments to express their sadness with messages of condolences.

Hollyoaks legend James Redmond wrote: “Sorry to hear that, mate. Sending love.”

While Ellis Hollins, who plays Tom Cunningham, posted a red love heart emoji underneath the post.

One fan said: “What a life she must’ve had, the stories… Sorry for your loss Bob.”

Another fan added: “Sending sincere condolences. What a beautiful lady she was x”

Bob is best known for his role as the Villainous Glenn Donovan on Channel 4’s Hollyoaks.

He played the role for two years and appeared in almost 100 episodes.

Glenn was involved in a number of huge storylines including a hard-hitting coercive-control plot which saw him abuse his partner Grace Black (Tamara Wall).

The character eventually met his maker at the hands of village serial killer Breda McQueen as she brutally murdered him as part of her plan to rid the village of ‘bad dads’. 

After leaving Hollyoaks, Bob has gone to make it a soap hattrick after landing guest stints in both Coronation Street and Eastenders.

Most recently, Bob was seen playing a police officer in the flash forward episode of Eastenders, which aired on New Year’s Day.
