How the Home and Away cast ruined our chances of Dr Chris Brown ever hosting the Logies
The beloved presenter has vowed against hosting Australian TV's night of nights.

Dr Chris Brown is no stranger to hosting a TV show after his time on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here with Julia Morris, but when it comes to the TV WEEK Logie Awards, the beloved veterinarian and TV personality has sworn off ever taking the leading role. With rumours swirling that Sam Pang may not host Australian TV’s biggest night of nights for the fourth year in a row, Brown confirmed he certainly won’t be taking his place.
His firm stance was prompted by a “horrible” experience presenting at the awards show in 2023, when Brown was asked last minute to present an award, and found himself utterly underprepared in a room full of unruly celebs.
“I had an experience that’s always scarred me from there,” Brown told radio station Triple M. “I got the call up, and they said, ‘Look, it’s one of the first awards. Don’t worry, it’s all on autocue.’ And it’s true, it’s all on autocue.”
Chris Brown reveals Logies autocue ‘disaster’
He continued, “I walked out onto the stage… I spotted the autocue. It’s a big screen at the back of the room, but there are tables in front of it.
“As I walk out, the entire Home & Away table stands up and has a conversation with someone from Neighbours, I think… So they’re all standing, blocking the autocue. I haven’t seen the script, and now I’m trying to read between Toadie Rebecchi from Neighbours and Alf Stewart.
“It’s a room just waiting for disaster.”

It was a moment even a seasoned professional like Brown found incredibly daunting, and he said the pressure to keep the room’s attention was hard.
Brown joked he would maybe consider it if they banned “steel cutlery on ceramic plates”, saying that’s all you can hear when presenting an award as the attendees eat their dinners.
While he’s not interested in hosting the main show, Brown has been the official host of the red carpet with Sonia Kruger for the last three years.
Who will host the Logie Awards in 2026?
Comedian Sam Pang has hosted the last three consecutive Logie Awards, but there is currently no confirmation that he (or anyone else) will be taking on the role this year.
Hosting awards shows is a notoriously tough gig, as the host is pushed to strike the right balance of appeasing the attendees in the room, while also giving the audience at home what they want.
While it’s smaller stakes than that of the Oscars or the Golden Globes, there have been some infamous hosts of awards shows in recent times, including Anne Hathaway and James Franco at the Oscars in 2011 and Ricky Gervais hosting the Golden Globes five times.
The date for the 2026 Logie Awards has not been confirmed, however, it was held last year in early August, so it expected to be a similar time this year.
