Eagle-eyed Coronation Street fans horrified after spotting astonishing price of a pie on Roy’s Rolls specials board

CORONATION Street’s favourite cafe might have had a shiny new makeover but so has the price list – and viewers have been left gobsmacked.
After being gutted by a fire set by Mal Roper last month, Roy’s Rolls officially reopened its doors earlier this week.

While Roy Cropper luckily escaped the blaze after being rescued from the flat upstairs, the cafe has been shut for weeks for a full “refit” – including a price hike.
An excited Fiz Dobbs and Chesney Winter-Brown headed over for the grand reveal, expecting a fresh new eaterie, and a buzzing Nina Lucas presented the new-improved area and said: “Ta da!”
However, in classic Roy style, the renovation looks almost exactly the same as it did.
Luckily, Roy survived, but the cafe was forced to close, leading to interior tweaks and a menu change.

As Roy proudly pointed out the “exciting” new wall insulation and eco-friendly lighting, sharp viewers noted the price bump on the specials board.
Hawk-eyed fans noted the new cost of a classic dish has gone up even more.
The menu displayed on the wall of Roy’s Rolls now reads: “Pie, chips and mushy peas for £6.95,” which was £5.50 pre fire.
Viewers joked: “£6.95 for pie and chips in Weatherfield? Roy, we’re in a recession, not the Ritz. Is the gravy gold-plated?”
“Roy Cropper has officially joined the 1%. £1.45 price hike just because he put in some new lightbulbs. Capitalism has reached the cobbles,” joked a second.
A third complained: “I know inflation is bad, but Roy’s Rolls is now charging London prices for mushy peas. Absolute scenes.”
“Weatherfield has officially been gentrified. One fire and suddenly Roy thinks he’s opening a gastropub in Didsbury. Next he’ll be charging £4 for ‘artisanal’ sourdough toast,” penned a fourth.
“Chesney can barely afford to feed his 50 kids and Roy is sat there charging nearly seven quid for a pie. The class war has reached the cobbles,” a user berated.
The Corrie favourite’s business was almost destroyed in a horror arson attack.
The cafe closed in April after the stalker deliberately set the cafe on fire following a fall out with Bernie Winter-Alahan.
Weatherfield icon Roy was rushed to hospital after his cafe was set alight after a clash with electrician Mal.
Even Money-Saving Expert Martin Lewis previously commented on the price hike from £2.60 to over £5 last year.
Fans urged: “Someone tag @MartinSLewis again. Roy is at it! First he doubled it in 2023, now he’s adding nearly 30% on top. He’s the real villain of the street.”

“Martin Lewis is going to have a heart attack when he sees the specials board tonight. Roy Cropper: Money Saving Expert’s Final Boss,” mocked another.
Despite the cost, viewers applauded the low-key makeover and wrote: “People are annoyed that the cafe isn’t radically different as if that isn’t incredibly in character for Roy.”
A second added: “Roy’s Rolls hasn’t changed dramatically (like the Platts) so it looking fresh and the same I like as it’s in Roy’s character not to change anything beyond recognition.”
A third agreed: “Roy is back and even though he only made minor changes, it looks lovely!”
The cobbles icon – who is played by actor David Neilson in the ITV soap – has run the cafe for almost three decades since arriving in Weatherfield.
