Coronation Street reveals “sweet” and “sad” romance for Asha Alahan

Coronation Street star Tanisha Gorey has exclusively revealed to Inside Soap that there is a new romance on the horizon for Asha Alahan.
Asha has been single ever since her split with Nina Lucas, whom she called it quits with in early 2024. Asha’s on-and-off relationship with Nina lasted three years, but it fell apart after Nina shared a kiss with her twin brother, Aadi.
Still, actress Tanisha is full of love for the romance that was a fan favourite among Coronation Street viewers, so much so that the pairing were affectionately dubbed ‘Nasha’.
“I feel the reason Asha and Nina happened was because of the love of the fans,” revealed Tanisha, who has played Asha since 2009. “They just loved us together, and I loved Nina and Asha together too. I loved how they were the complete opposite; Asha is pink, girly, and Little Mix-y and Nina is the goth of the street and really cool. I loved how they found common ground and loved each other.”
Following their breakup, Asha has maintained a close bond with Nina, and the two regularly spend time together despite the awkward circumstances of their parting.
“There’s a little group of four of us, Asha, Summer, Amy and Nina,” Tanisha shared. “I really, really enjoy the fact that we hang out, there’s no animosity and we’ve manage to stay good friends throughout it all. We’ve got over it like mature adults and we’re wading through.”
That said, Asha could soon cause a stir, as she welcomes a new love interest into her life. But what direction will the romance take?
“There’s definitely something on the horizon and it’s really sweet,” explained Tanisha. “It’s also a little bit sad, but we see Asha having to be supportive. I really hope the fans get behind the story and what’s coming up!”
