Police called in Emmerdale as furious Caleb makes a big discovery

Caleb makes a mammoth discovery

Caleb Milligan (Will Ash) is supposed to be some kind of criminal mastermind in Emmerdale, yet he just got outwitted.

Though he doesn’t yet know who conned him out of £5,000, the truth is it was teenager Archie (Kai Assi), son of Caleb’s business partner Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) with just some AI technology and some savvy know how.

Archie created an AI version of Caleb’s daughter Steph’s voice and used it to ask Caleb to pay £5,000.

Uncharacteristically gullible Caleb fell for it, wiring the money to the bank account ‘Steph’ told him to, no questions asked.

When he realised what had happened, it got to him so badly that he decided he needed to turn back to a life of crime to right his wrong, roping in Billy (Jay Kontzle) to help him sell knock-off goods.

But then he switched his focus to finding out who could be behind the plot to embarrass him so.

He has a name on his mind – Archie. With a few little niggling clues floating around, Caleb starts to suspect Jai’s son. So he sets a trap.

He pretends to offer Archie paid work using AI at the depot. Archie is clever, but he’ll never outwit Caleb twice.

Leaving his laptop unattended, Caleb goes in for a snoop. And Bingo, Archie has made some majorly rookie mistakes in not even taking the time to mask his masterpiece. Caleb easily finds a folder named ‘Steph’ and it’s all the evidence Caleb needs to know Archie is to blame.

Who will win this battle?

He confronts the teenager, but Archie panics and blames Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton). This is entirely believable, partly because it’s true and she helped Archie pull off the stunt.

Caleb goes straight to confront her too. She is not prepared for the sudden encounter and struggles to explain away the accusation. Caleb threatens the police and Kerry folds, blaming Archie.

Caleb twists it around and tells her that Archie blamed her. But he’s underestimated her. As he threatens her with jail time, she threatens him back. Who’ll win this round?
