Robbery rocks the Emmerdale village – but Kev might not be the one to blame
Kev Townsend made a grand return a few days ago

A robbery takes place in Emmerdale soon and naturally, everyone assumes the unhinged bloke with the man-bun who once held three men hostage with a sword is behind it.
But what if it isn’t Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill), and his comments about turning over a new leaf really are true?
Kev returned to our screens a couple of days ago, when he got word that son Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) had been kidnapped.
The person holding Lewis hostage was Kylie, Kev’s ex. She told Ross Barton (Michael Parr) that the only way to get his little brother back was to find Kev and make him return Penny.
Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) located Kev, who headed back to Emmerdale with the local doctor after finding out that Lewis was in danger. Until Kev rocked up, Liam and Ross thought that Penny was a woman, but it was actually a diamond necklace.
Considering a young man was being held against his will, Ross, Liam and Kev took a good few days to actually get him back.
When Ross found Lewis, he claimed that he was the reason for the kidnapping. He didn’t want to increase the chance of Kev being in Lewis’ life again, but forgot to consider that the criminal literally does whatever he wants.
Kev arrived at Dale View, sang Boyzone’s Father and Son (I’m being serious), and announced to Lewis that he is his biological father. Since then, Kev has tried to convince Lewis that they should have a relationship, but he hasn’t been interested.
Kev is on the verge of giving up in Emmerdale soon, as he voices his fears to Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) about Lewis not wanting anything to do with him. Charles assures Kev, telling him that he’d be a brilliant dad if he’s given the chance.

Encouraged, Kev heads off, and later decides it might be a good idea to change his name to ‘Barton’ to try and bond with his son.
To literally no-one’s surprise, it doesn’t work.
There’s a glimmer of hope later in the week though, as Kev finds Lewis and explains his tragic past. He vows to never go back to prison, and shares that he changed his name to protect Lewis from the negative weight his surname carries.
When Ross walks in and orders Kev to leave, Lewis intervenes. He tells his brother that he wants to give Kev a chance.
In the week, a frustrated Ross tells Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) that it’s only a matter of time until Kev makes a mistake and gets thrown out of the village.

Shortly afterwards, a mysterious figure breaks into the cafe and steals the cashbox.
When Lewis and Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) make the discovery, the idea inevitably arises that Kev had something to do with it.
Lewis marches over to Kev and accuses him of being behind the robbery. He is outraged and denies any involvement. Kev tries to plead his case, but Lewis is having none of it.
Is this the end of their relationship already?
And is Kev actually telling the truth?
