13 huge Emmerdale moments still to come in 2026

What's coming up on the show?

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

It’s a busy time for Emmerdale news at the moment, so it’s easy to miss a juicy spoiler or the latest details on the show’s ongoing cast shake-up!

Look no further for all the gossip, though, as we round up everything we know about what’s to come in the next few months.

1. Sadie King’s return

In mid-May, Emmerdale officially confirmed the news that Patsy Kensit had agreed to reprise her role as Sadie King. The announcement followed weeks of rumours about Sadie coming back to the village for a huge storyline with her ex-husband Jimmy.

Producer Laura Shaw said: “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Patsy Kensit back to the cast and crucially to see the iconic Sadie King storm back into the village. Her return will be explosive and guaranteed to shock.

“Sadie’s seductive demeanor, combined with her utterly ruthless nature, are set to deliver a spectacular and highly dramatic touch of class to the Yorkshire Dales.”

Patsy added: “I am really excited to return to Emmerdale. I treasure the years I was here before. Sadie King is a character that I really loved playing. The cast and crew are absolutely brilliant and I am so grateful for the chance to return to the show, it’s absolutely amazing.”

2. Joe and Dawn’s wedding

Home Farm couple Joe Tate and Dawn Fletcher have booked a summer wedding – and despite the drama that engulfed their relationship in the spring, they’re currently back on the right track.

However, with Dawn’s ex-husband Billy in a new romance with Gabby Thomas, her unhappy reaction soon sparks rumours that she’s jealous!

“Although her wedding day is fast approaching, Dawn struggles to see her ex Billy dating Gabby,” a Dales spokesperson recently explained. “Soon even Joe starts to wonder if Gabby might be right about Dawn still having feelings for Billy.

“Will the wedding of the summer go off without a hitch or will jealousy destroy their big day?”

3. Dawn’s exit

In late March, news broke that Olivia Bromley – who plays Dawn – is being written out of the show. Emmerdale refused to confirm the report, though, and details have been scant since then.

Could Dawn’s wedding be the big moment that drives her to leave the village?

4. Dr Todd’s death

A recent flashforward scene showed Dr Todd’s dead body, sparking rumours that she could be murdered by one of her enemies in the village.

So far, Dales bosses have been keeping quiet about the exact timing of Todd’s final scenes or how she meets her end, but Charity Dingle, Jacob Sugden and their allies are sure to be key players as we build up to her demise.

5. New villain Steve arrives

Former Waterloo Road star Jason Done has been cast on Emmerdale for a short guest stint.

Jason has been tipped to cause chaos in the village as a villainous character, so some of our favourite characters will have to watch out.

6. Serena’s secret is revealed

When there’s a nasty farmland accident for Robert this month, Serena is fortunately at the scene to help out. But this quickly rings alarm bells for Robert’s partner Aaron, who remembers that evil John always seemed to be around whenever disaster struck! Is history repeating itself?

With suspicion mounting, it’s only a matter of time before viewers and villagers discover what Serena is hiding.

“Aaron lays out his theory to Robert, and he and Chas agree to keep an eye on her,” a show spokesperson recently said.

“As he and Chas dig for answers, a secret on Serena’s stolen phone threatens to blow everything wide open. Robert confronts a floundering Serena with proof she is lying. What is she keeping from them and will they be able to forgive her deception?”

7. Caleb targets Joe

Caleb is showing that he’s a force to be reckoned with as he teams up with Billy and Kerry to sell counterfeit goods. But along the way, he’ll also see an opportunity to get even with Joe following last year’s stolen kidney scandal.

“We have a story coming up at the depot with Caleb trying to get his groove back, which leads to some problems up there,” Laura Shaw told Inside Soap recently.

“Going forward, we’ll reach a point where Caleb begins to see an opportunity to get Joe back. He’s not forgotten that Joe stole his kidney, and an opportunity will present itself in the summer that means Caleb and Ruby are working together to get the ultimate revenge on Joe.”

8. Charity’s baby secret is revealed

Emmerdale is currently exploring Mack’s reaction to the truth about baby Leyla’s biological parents. But of course, there’s another chapter still to come when Sarah and Jacob also find out.

Lawrence Robb, who plays Mack, recently said: “I think there’s maybe an element of Mack and Charity sticking a band-aid over it. Mack doesn’t really get much time to deal with it because he immediately enters protection mode. So, whether that rears its head further on down the line, I don’t know. But he doesn’t have a lot of time to process it.

“Also, Sarah and Jacob don’t know the truth yet. Inevitably that has to come to fruition somehow, somewhere. I guess that’s up to the writers and producers to decide on how and when that happens and what the consequences will be.”

9. A summer stunt

Gone are the days when an Emmerdale stunt seemed to air every Thursday (the hour-long episodes demanded it!), so it’s always exciting to hear that an on-screen spectacle is on the way.

“What we’re planning for the end of summer, I don’t think I’ve seen a stunt done quite like this before, so it’ll be something a little different,” Laura Shaw told Inside Soap.

“We have a big summer planned that’s going to be a big peak for us. It’s going to drop a big, massive bombshell on the village that will change lives forever, put it that way!”

10. Gabby’s big story

Gabby Thomas’s anxiety around food and healthy eating starts to reach worrying levels in the coming weeks.

“It’s going to be a big story for Gabby, where we delve into the dark side of obsessive healthy eating,” Laura Shaw said earlier in the summer.

“She lost Vinny and then being pushed away by Ross makes her start to become a little bit more obsessive about controlling what she eats.

“And while initially it’ll just look like healthy eating, we’ll see how an obsession can start to go wrong.”

11. Nicola and Kev go from enemies to friends

Nicola King is currently hell-bent on getting Kev Townsend out of the village – she even broke into her own café to make it happen! But it wouldn’t be the first time that bitter enemies turn into BFFs…

“As we know, Nicola has taken on a motherly role with Lewis, so we will be seeing more of her and Kev,” Laura Shaw said recently.

“Later on in the year, Nicola’s going to have a few troubles of her own that Kev is going to be supportive with…”

12. Vinny and Kev at odds?

One person who won’t be so enthused about Kev’s presence is Vinny, who’s reminded of the traumatic experiences he faced with his own dad Paul.

“What we need to remember is the relationship that Vinny had with his own father, Paul, who was quite abusive,” Laura Shaw told Inside Soap.

It brings a lot back for Vinny because Kev is slightly wild, edgy and can be unpredictable. Vinny’s quite nervous about Lewis having a relationship with Kev, because he reminds him of Paul.”

13. More exits

Vinny, Jimmy King and Noah Dingle have all been named as other characters who’ll be leaving our screens in the coming months, as the Emmerdale cast undergoes a shake-up.

Show bosses have chosen not to reveal any details to avoid spoiling future storylines.
