Coronation Street star welcomes daughter to set – here’s why
She was given a grand tour of the set.

A Coronation Street star welcomed his daughter to the set of the ITV soap in Manchester. Andy Whyment, who has played Kirk Sutherland since 2000, posted a video on TikTok of him showing his daughter Hollie round the Corrie set.
In the video, Andy gave his daughter a whistlestop tour of various locations, including Weatherfield General Hospital and Coronation Street itself. He also gave her a tour behind the scenes, taking her to the wardrobe department, the hair and makeup room, and the dressing rooms – including his own.
She also got a peek at Underworld, where Kirk works in the soap, and even tried her hand at answering a few calls on Carla Connor’s desk, though doesn’t seem like anyone answered.
However, the two engaged in a bit of improv as Hollie, in character as Carla, pretended to be shocked at the quality of a garment, to which Andy said it has “nothing to do with me”. He also took her to Kirk’s flat and Roy’s cafe, with the two sets actually being adjacent to each other.
This then led to another bit of acting from the pair as Hollie pretended to be a server and Andy a customer. After that, he took his daughter to a display case that showed various murder weapons used to kill certain characters over the course of the series.
This includes the knife Anna Windass used to stab Pat Phelan in 2018 and the hole punch serial killer Stephen Reid used to murder his second victim, Teddy Thompkins, by hitting him over the head with it in 2023.
As for why Hollie was brought on set, Andy revealed in the caption that he’d taken her into work with him as part of her work experience.
Not only did she get a tour, but he says she also “watched a scene be shot”, though he didn’t say which scene. He added: “Really enjoyed showing her how it all comes together by a great team of people!!
Andy had set up his TikTok account to give fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the show, including a typical workday. This led fans to suggest that Kirk deserved a “big storyline”.
More recently, Kirk was amongst the six suspects who’d reported Daniel Osbourne to social services; however, it was later revealed that Bertie’s teacher had been the culprit.
