Coronation Street confirms murder trial ahead as cast arrive to film huge scenes
Filming is underway for a big murder trial in Coronation Street

Dramatic courtroom scenes will unfold on Coronation Street in the near future, with Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) set to stand trial for the murder of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright).
Theo, as viewers will recall, was attacked on the night of Carla and Lisa Connor-Swain’s (Alison King and Vicky Myers) back in April, with their daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) finding the body.
An investigation was subsequently launched, with Lisa and Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) on the case as the hunt was on to locate the person who claimed abuser Theo’s life.
Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), who was abused by Theo for months, was at one stage prime suspect, while other Street favourites including Gary Windass (Mikey North) and George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) also found themselves under suspicion.
The truth about Theo’s killer was revealed to audiences over a dramatic dinner party earlier this year, with Sarah confirmed to have been the one who ended the abuser.
Flashbacks revealed that, on the night in question, Sarah and Theo had a tense confrontation on top of the scaffolding outside his flat.

When Theo started making threats, Sarah pulled out a metal bar and struck him with it. She subsequently called Gary – who wife Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) suspected of having an affair – for help in covering up the crime.
Sarah’s lies caught up with her last month when Theo’s blood was found on her clothes, and she was arrested by Lisa in front of her loved ones.
At first, she attempted to try and talk around the evidence implicating her to the crime but, with DS Connor-Swain suspecting Gary’s involvement, Sarah decided to come clean, admitting to claiming Theo’s life.

Kit, however, is determined to ensure Sarah doesn’t get sent down for ‘a long stretch’ and thus becomes determined to ensure Gary’s involvement in covering up the crime is documented.
Whether or not his plan works remains to be seen but filming pictures confirm that a trial will take place, with cast members seeing arriving on location to film the dramatic scenes.
Sarah star Tina O’Brien was pictured arriving at the courthouse, as was Jack P Shepherd who plays her brother David on the show.

Carla Connor-Swain legend Alison King was also seen arriving to shoot the big scenes, with Bethany Platt star Lucy Fallon and Julia Goulding – who portrays Shona Platt – also in attendance.
The question is: will the trial go in Sarah’s favour? Or is her future behind bars set to be sealed?
