Coronation Street star reveals he’s working as a builder 6 years after quitting the soap and landing huge Hollywood role

A FORMER Coronation Street star revealed he is now working as a builder – six years on from leaving and landing a Hollywood project.
James Burrows, 35, joined the ITV soap in 2018, but bowed out only two years later.
Six years after departing from Weatherfield, the Corrie alum – who played Ali Neeson – is now working as a builder.
According to his Facebook page, James set up his company, which specialises in driveways and landscaping, back in early 2024.
He has also shared posts highlighting the company’s various completed projects.
After leaving Coronation Street, James appeared in Hijack opposite Idris Elba, The Couple Next Door and BBC hit Sherwood.
He also featured in popular shows such as Happy Valley, Safe House and Silent Witness.
A source said: “James is a talented actor and had huge success but he’s a jobbing actor ultimately and has a family to provide for.
“He’s got no problem taking on building work during quiet times between acting jobs.
“He’s not afraid of hard work.”
Meanwhile, James’ Corrie character, Ali, featured in one of the soap’s most dramatic and explosive storylines.
It was revealed in 2008 that Ali was, in fact, the biological son of fan favourite Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh).
He was switched at birth with Michelle’s supposed son, Ryan – and their families discovered the truth when the boys were teenagers.
A decade later, James took on the role of Ali, joining alongside actor Ryan Prescott taking over the role of Ryan Connor.
