Thea’s risky act in Emmerdale has life-changing consequences for Charity
She could’ve lost everything

The following article contains spoilers from the episode of Emmerdale dated October 5. It hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX and YouTube.
DS Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) has risked her future and her career in an attempt to help Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) in Emmerdale.
Last week, Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) spotted Thea talking to Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) and eventually discovered that they’re actually friends.
Sarah also learnt that Thea knows what really happened to Doctor Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker), and that she risked her job to fuel the theory that Charity killed her in self-defence. She immediately developed an idea and told Ramsden that if she didn’t help free Charity from prison, she’d tell the police about her lies.
A reluctant Thea got to work on her plan in today’s episode. At the station, she tampered with a recording file from Charity’s initial interview, and later told her boss that it’s corrupted.
Thea’s boss explained that she’d speak to the CPS, but isn’t sure if they’d take the case any further what with Sarah being an unreliable witness, and the interview file being broken.
DS Ramsden hated what she was doing, but damaging her reputation in this way was a far better option than crossing her fingers and hoping Sarah would stay quiet.
At the shop, Serena updated Sarah, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and Jacob Sugden (Joe-Warren Plant) and explained that Thea had sabotaged evidence, and the case is more than likely going to collapse.

Serena didn’t know for certain, but was fairly confident Charity would soon be released.
We know that Charity will come home this week, but things between her and Sarah remain difficult.
Charity might be out of prison, but she’s still guilty of her crimes against Sarah, and there may still be some serious punishment on the horizon.
