EastEnders ‘confirms’ who is shot as huge hint is dropped

Max Branning may have sealed someone’s fate

This article contains spoilers for tonight’s (Thursday, October 29) EastEnders, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.

EastEnders has just dropped a major hint to the outcome of the New Year’s Day flashforward episode and who could be set to take a bullet.

If you cast your mind back to the beginning of 2026, you’ll recall the dramatic episode that gave us a glimpse into 2027 and saw Albert Square preparing for Max Branning’s (Jake Wood) wedding to a mystery bride.

Of course, things weren’t that straightforward, as Max woke up next to his pregnant mistress and was later arrested for his role in a murder.

And that was all before his kids, Lauren and Oscar Branning (Jacqueline Jossa and Pierre Counihan-Moullier), were taken hostage and held at gunpoint, with Max receiving a text demanding he choose who dies.

Max and Linda Carter’s relationship was exposed

In tonight’s episode, it seemed that Max may have sealed his children’s fate when he swore on their lives that he was being truthful. A bold move, considering Max wouldn’t know how to tell the truth if it smacked him in the face.

After a dramatic showdown in the Vic following the revelation that Max was seeing Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) decided to get revenge by exposing Max’s latest secret to his new lover.

Viewers will know that Cindy has been blackmailing Max in exchange for her silence after she discovered that Max was the man who left Zoe Slater to die.

Cindy Beale wanted to make Max pay

Despite the fact that Max had paid her off, Cindy revealed the truth to Linda, who was torn over who to believe.

Eventually, Max managed to talk her round, winning back her trust when he swore on his children’s lives that he hadn’t left Zoe for dead.

Has Max just sealed one of his children’s fates as they face a masked gunman on New Year’s Day? Or are there further twists in store?
