Coronation Street legend sparks rumours he’s making show comeback as he visits set ten years after quitting soap

A MAJOR Coronation Street character has sparked rumours that he may be making a return to the show.

The star shared a snap online with his kids visiting the set for the programme, which has since been reposted to Corrie’s official social media page.

Ryan Thomas returned to the set of Corrie, a decade after leaving the show
Ryan first joined the show as Jason back in the year 2000

In the photo Ryan Thomas is bundled up in a long dark coat, smiling down at his children.

The studio stands in the background of the photo, and Ryan reminisces about how he first laid eyes on it when he was only a teen.

The star wrote over the top of the picture: “Came here when I was 16 years old – first job out of school.

“Nothing will ever compare to that feeling, being in this building.

“It was a magical time. So grateful @coronationstreet .”

During his stint on Corrie, Ryan played the role of Jason Grimshaw.

Jason first joined the cobbles back in the year 2000 as a happy-go-lucky young local builder, and the son of Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) and Tony Stewart (Alan Igbon).

Throughout the show, Jason found himself caught up in various dramas, from neighbourhood scuffles to failed romances.

Jason officially left the show in June of 2016 with his exit storyline involving immense stress and scrutiny by police over the murder of Callum Logan (Sean Ward).

Though he made a brief guest return last year to coincide with the departure storyline of his mother Eileen.

Eileen decided to end her romance with George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsle) after realising she only loved him as a friend.

After cutting ties, Eileen decided she wished to seek a fresh start by moving to Thailand with her son Jason, where they intend to run a bar together.

The real-world reason for Eileen exiting the popular soap has been cited as a desire to pursue new acting opportunities.
