Next week on Coronation Street, Kit’s huge new storyline begins as he’s diagnosed with breast cancer.

Elsewhere, Jodie and Shona are rocked by their dad’s arrival, and Betsy suffers another health scare.

1. Kit’s mystery lady

Kit appears to have finally moved on from Sarah, as a mystery person sheepishly makes their way out of the flat while he’s still sleeping.

Later, once he’s awake, Kit stares at a photo of him and Sarah and is plagued with guilt.

2. Kit is diagnosed with breast cancer

Later, we see why Kit has seemed so distracted recently, as he attends a follow-up appointment with a consultant after undergoing tests. He’s told that he has stage three breast cancer, which has spread to his lymph nodes.

Show bosses are working with Macmillan Cancer Support and Breast Cancer Now on this storyline, which will raise awareness of how the disease can affect men as well as women.

3. Debbie celebrates her birthday

Debbie’s birthday party takes place at the Rovers Return, and it’s a bittersweet occasion as she fears that it could be her last one.

During the gathering, Debbie makes a heartfelt speech and thanks everyone for their support – with a special mention for her beloved husband Ronnie.

4. Kit finds someone to confide in

Kit joins the party and starts to drink heavily, which leaves Bernie concerned about how he’s behaving.

The police detective chooses not to tell his family what’s going on, but Todd spots him struggling and encourages him to open up. Once Todd knows the truth, he urges Kit to be more honest with those closest to him – but will he?

5. Jodie hears too much

Jodie gets annoyed when Kit decides to cut her off. She can’t resist meddling, so she forces her way into Sarah’s flat to snoop around.

Shortly afterwards, Jodie overhears Kit and Bethany talking and learns a piece of information that shocks her!

6. Kit clashes with Ross

Kit and Ross accidentally collide at the pub, which causes Kit to clutch his chest in pain.

Unaware of what Kit is going through, Ross accuses him of overreacting, which sparks a furious row as Kit loses his temper.

7. Jodie uses her newfound knowledge against Bethany

Armed with what she now knows, Jodie taunts Bethany with the news that she has decided to visit Sarah in prison.

In the visiting room, Jodie apologises to Sarah for attacking her but then changes the subject by insisting that there’s something else she needs to know…

8. Jodie and Shona’s dad returns

Bethany is annoyed about Jodie’s meddling, so she pays her a visit at the Platt house to warn her off.

Their conversation is interrupted when Jodie and Shona’s dad Doug arrives unexpectedly – but what does he want?

9. Doug hopes for a fresh start

Shona is surprised by Doug’s visit, but he explains that he’s back on medication for his bipolar disorder and has his life under control.

Doug hopes for a chance to rebuild his relationship with Shona, who has a big decision to make.

10. Doug spots worrying clues

Doug gets his first clue that Jodie is still up to no good when he witnesses her pretending to be Shona in front of a customer at the café.

Jodie warns Doug not to cause any trouble for her, but when he spots her looking longingly at David, he starts to fear the worst…

11. Shona feels untrusted

Following his trip, David assures Shona that they’re in it together with baby Harper and will overcome any challenges.

However, Shona later confides in Carla about how she fears David doesn’t trust her to be alone with Harper.

12. Lucy faces more disappointment

Lucy reluctantly attends her mum’s funeral, after initially refusing to go.

She later returns home feeling disappointed, as her dad wasn’t there and she only went because she assumed they’d be briefly reunited.

13. There’s more trouble for the Metcalfes

Lucy convinces Shanice to head out and buy sweets at the Kabin, even though the youngster isn’t allowed out on her own.

A concerned Brian soon returns with Shanice, letting Sally know that she came to the shop by herself. Sally correctly guesses that Lucy has engineered this troubling situation, but Lucy has even more up her sleeve…

14. Betsy suffers another setback

Sally finds a local fashion course which could be perfect for Betsy. Carla looks into it and later offers to help Betsy apply.

Things look up further for Betsy when Bethany arrives to give her a manicure, which is a treat organised by Ryan. However, when Betsy suddenly clutches her head in pain, she fears that she’s having another stroke.
