Coronation Street star to make shock comeback months after leaving soap – and she’s already filmed scenes in secret

CORONATION Street star Sara Poyzer is set to make a shock comeback just months after leaving the soap.

The actress, who plays dodgy car dealer Fiona Morley, was last seen on-screen in September but it looks like ITV viewers will be seeing plenty more of her.

Sara, 55, has signed a new deal to reprise her role as the villainous character and she’s already filmed scenes on the show’s set in Manchester earlier this year.

Fans will get to see her first scenes back later this month.

Fiona first appeared in Weatherfield in May last year and was around intermittently until September.

She was introduced as an old flame of Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) before quickly becoming entangled in a dangerous and corrupt business scheme including stolen vehicles with Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard).

Fiona was last seen stealing a car from Kevin Webster’s garage (Michael Le Vell).

The Sun exclusively revealed Sara’s initial stint on the show last year as she stepped onto the cobbles for the first time.

Sara is a soaps veteran, having appeared in EastEnders twice and having stints in Casualty, Doctors and Crossroads.

She’s been playing the role of Donna Sheridan in the West End production of Mamma Mia! for the last decade.

As well as this, she’s been a staple of BBC Radio 4 soap opera The Archers in the role of Leonie Schnell.

The Theatre star was at the centre of an AI scandal in 2024 when she was ditched from a voiceover role with the BBC in favour of using a computer-generated vocal.

Sara had been booked to play the voice role of a dying person who can’t speak as part of a then-upcoming BBC documentary.

However, the BBC later opted to axe Sara and use AI instead.

The BBC later clarified that the decision had been made after consulting with the family of the individual who the documentary was about and as a result of the highly sensitive nature of the programme.
