EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has confirmed some upcoming prison drama for Ian Beale in the fallout of the devastating accident that aired earlier this week. In Monday’s episode, Ian and Kathy were seen leaving Ross Marshall and Vicki Fowler’s wedding, before disaster struck.

Ian unknowingly hit Jordan Fox with his car, leaving the young boy unresponsive. In scenes on Tuesday, Chelsea tended to her son, who was still breathing, while Josh called an ambulance before Jordan was taken to the hospital.

After Ian and Kathy returned home, the police came knocking, telling Ian that they had evidence that his car had been involved in a collision with a pedestrian. When Ian told them he had one pint at the wedding, the police gave him a breath screening.

He was arrested for being over the legal limit and for failing to stop after a collision. At the station, Ian maintained that he had done nothing wrong, even though another breath test confirmed he was over the legal limit of 35 micrograms after just one drink.

Learning that Jordan was the one struck by the car, the gravity of the situation dawned on Ian and he requested a solicitor. When we last saw Ian at the end of Thursday’s episode, he was in a prison cell, having been kept there overnight.

Meanwhile, the doctor informed Chelsea that Jordan had suffered a spinal injury and would need to undergo surgery. This sets up next week’s scenes, with Ian returning home to learn that he could be facing jail time if alcohol is deemed to have contributed to the accident.

Struggling in the aftermath, Ian then seeks legal advice from Johnny. After being ignored by Yolande, Ian attempts to convince Elaine of his innocence. Hoping to make amends, he takes a gift to Jordan but is confronted by Chelsea.

Later, Chelsea learns that Jordan’s rehabilitation may not work. which leaves her devastated. Will Ian go to prison, and will Jordan be able to recover somewhat from the accident?
