Emmerdale star confirms Bear Wolf’s future ahead of terrifying trial scenes

Will he be sent to jail?

Emmerdale star Joshua Richards has hinted at Bear Wolf’s future in the Dales as Paddy Dingle’s dad awaits trial for the death of Ray Walters.

Bear was at the centre of a harrowing modern slavery storyline on the soap, seeing him as one of the people forced into labour by Ray and his mother, Celia Daniels. After Ray murdered Celia, it was time for him to meet his maker in tense scenes, seeing Bear strangling him to death to protect Paddy and Dylan Penders.

As the trial for Ray’s murder approaches, Richards has teased whether fans will get to see more of Bear on the ITV soap.

Quizzed about what’s in store for his character, the soap star said “trouble does lie ahead” for Bear, but that he’d be more than happy to stay on Emmerdale.

“If they want me to stay, I’d love to stay forever. I have no plans to retire. Emmerdale is, to quote Forrest Gump, like a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get next,” he told the Mirror.

“You also get to climb so many different mountains and it is a lot of fun. But trouble does lie ahead for Bear.”

Addressing the upcoming trial, Richards acknowledged that might put Bear in a tricky spot if he’s found guilty.

“You don’t know what the court will do and whether they will trip him up or not. I know Bear wouldn’t cope in prison. He doesn’t like that environment. He’s not a criminal,” he said.

While all clues point to Bear sticking around, a sentence could mean that viewers wouldn’t see a lot of him after the trial.
