Emmerdale confirms funeral as nasty situation ‘goes too far’
Doctor Todd’s father died recently
Doctor Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) has to pause her vendetta against Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) in Emmerdale soon, as she has a family funeral to attend.
A few weeks ago, Jacob witnessed Doctor Todd arguing with an old man in the hospital. At the time, he believed this was the smoking gun that he needed to bring his bullying boss down.
Jacob then felt pretty foolish when he learnt that the old man is Doctor Todd’s father, and that he has dementia.
A couple of days later, Jacob was on shift and approached Todd’s dad, believing at the time that he needed CPR. Rich, Jacob’s colleague, pointed out that the old man has a DNR. Despite knowing this, Jacob proceeded to try and resuscitate him, believing that Doctor Todd would be grateful that she didn’t lose the opportunity to say a proper goodbye.
Whichever way the situation would’ve panned out, Caitlin would’ve verbally attacked Jacob. After discovering that he went against the DNR, Doctor Todd told Jacob that he’d never make it as a doctor. Up until that point, he had managed to put up with her horrible comments, but this one really hit a nerve.
Doctor Todd now lives in the village with Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick). She’s also putting a great deal of effort into telling Vanessa and Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) that Jacob is obsessed with her.
Whenever Caitlin is involved in a conversation with Jacob, she tells a different version of the event to Vanessa and Manpreet, one that makes it seem as though Jacob is being inappropriate.
Next week, Doctor Todd prepares to attend her father’s funeral. Believing their feud has now gone too far, Jacob visits his boss and offers his condolences regarding her dad, and apologises for their past conflict.
Just when Jacob thinks their relationship has stablised at last, Doctor Todd finds him and takes pleasure in suggesting that she knows a secret which could make his life hellish.
Later, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) panics to learn that Todd’s been alluding to her secret in front of Jacob. Meanwhile, Caitlin reveals to Vanessa that she’s inherited her dad’s home in Matlock, but Vanessa wonders if the move will jeopardise any potential relationship.
After realising that she cannot actually move until she’s raised some money, Todd tells Charity to pay her to keep her secret. She’s left further worried when Doctor Todd then tells Charity that she wants £10,000.
Can Charity really raise the funds? Or is her secret about to destroy Jacob’s life even further?
