Dr Todd stuns Charity in Emmerdale with creepily explicit change of tone

Emmerdale’s Doctor Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) doesn’t have a good bone in her body – which is deeply ironic when you think about it.

The wicked surgeon is currently blackmailing Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) into giving her £100k to keep her secret about baby Leyla hidden. At first, Doctor Todd’s demand was £10,000, but she increased the amount after finding out that Charity had lied to her about being the co-owner of the Woolpack.

Charity panicked a great deal about where she’d get the money within the one-week time frame. She ended up turning to Kim Tate (Claire King), and asked her to buy her shares in the pub at a discounted price.

In the meeting, Kim didn’t outright confirm if she would accept Charity’s offer, but did say that she’d be in touch, which left Charity hopeful. The last thing she wants to do is say goodbye to the pub, but she’s absolutely desperate to keep Leyla’s parentage hidden from Sarah and Jacob Sugden (Katie Hill and Joe-Warren Plant).

In today’s episode, Charity visited Doctor Todd and said that she’d get the money, but it would take a little bit longer than a week. She also told Caitlin that if she ‘does something she shouldn’t’ once she’s got the cash, she’d ‘mess her up’.

This was another one of Charity’s attempts at scaring Caitlin, but this is a woman who seemingly doesn’t have the ability to feel afraid. To wind Charity up, Doctor Todd accused her of flirting, and proceeded to tell her that she’s attractive when she’s angry.

Charity’s threat that she’d rip Doctor Todd’s throat out didn’t do much either. Caitlin smiled, and then told Charity it’s always a pleasure seeing her.

All of Charity’s hope rests on Kim Tate buying her out of the pub, but she hasn’t considered one very important factor.

Even though Doctor Todd is focused on destroying Charity right now, star Caroline Harker recently shared that her character could easily look at targetting other people in the village.

‘I think she’s just scratching the surface about the Dingles. I mean, what she’s finding out on a daily basis…I think she probably doesn’t sleep much, planning what she could do to other people. I think she’s occupied, very focused in that forensic surgeon way. I think she’s focused on that. She’ll see that through. She’s seen Jacob through. One thing at a time. But yeah, if she was there for long enough, ooh she could do some damage!’.

The actress added: ‘There is a new reason that she wants the money. I think she’s pinning it on the fact that she’s inherited this house and on the fact that she’s left the hospital with a huge chunk of her pension missing. So, I’m not sure that she’s been down the money route before.

‘It could be new, but I think she feels all-powerful. It’s like plugging a sib with her. It’ll come up somewhere else. She’ll do something else to someone.’
