EastEnders confirms Sharon’s future and if she will return for good

Back to the drama full time?

EastEnders has confirmed Sharon Watts’ (Letitia Dean) future and whether she has any plans to return to Walford.

The beloved character surprised us all earlier this week when she arrived back in Albert Square in time for Vicki Fowler’s (Alice Haig) wedding to Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw).

Sharon was last seen in October, when she departed Walford just weeks after staging a comeback.

Her return towards the end of 2025 saw Sharon deal with Zoe Slater’s (Michelle Ryan) claim that Dennis Rickman was the father of her twins.

Amid all the turmoil of Zoe’s comeback, the former Queen Vic landlady was also left reeling when Vicki was attacked by stepson Joel Marshall (Max Murray) and thus resolved to get her out of Walford.

Vicki subsequently returned without Sharon and she discovered that Zoe had fabricated the entire story about Dennis being her missing son’s dad.

Without wasting a second, she notified Sharon, who was so heartbroken by the development she resolved to stay away, stating that the news was like Denny had ‘died all over again’.

Sharon Watts has been away from Walford since last year

Sharon headed to America to stay with Michelle Fowler (Susan Tully), but had to return this week for her sister’s wedding.

And what a dramatic ceremony it’s been!

In today’s episode, now available on BBC iPlayer, Sharon is right in the middle of the drama as Ross violently confronts Zack Hudson (James Farrar) about his affair with Vicki.

After the chaos, Ross and Vicki end up having a private conversation alone about their relationship.

Vicki does her very best to convince Ross that she definitely wants to be with him, and they eventually decide to tie the knot after all, with Ross concluding that sometimes the best form of revenge is being happy.

At the wedding reception, Sharon has a quiet chat with Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).

As Sharon notes that she needs to get Albie home as they have an early flight tomorrow, Phil asks when she’ll be back in Albert Square for good.

‘A month or so’, Sharon reveals, confirming she has a ‘few loose ends to tie up’ first.

Sharon admits that she’s missed Walford so unless she gets caught up in some big drama overseas, it won’t be too long until we see her again.

Thank goodness!
