Emmerdale sign up rival star as soap’s new villain in ‘huge coup’ for ITV show

EMMERDALE has cast rival soap star Jason Done in a major new role.
The former Coronation Street and Waterloo Road star, 53, has filmed scenes for a huge new storyline in the ITV soap.

The actor, who has also starred in The Bill and Brassic, will be playing the latest Dales’ villain.
A source told The Sun: “This is a huge coup for Emmerdale.
“They’ve had massive success with other soap’s stars joining the cast and the hope is that Jason will be another hit.
“Jason’s character is a new villain with a surprising connection to the village.”

Jason got his first taste of working in a soap back in the 90s, when he played PC Bathurst in Coronation Street.
He also starred in the police drama The Bill in 1996.
However, the actor is best known for his long-running role in Waterloo Road as teacher Tom Clarkson.
Jason played the part for seven years, after joining the BBC One school drama in 2006.
However, his character died in 2013 while trying to talk a troubled teen down from a ledge.
Tom tripped as he helped Kyle off the roof and ended up having a fatal fall.
Speaking to TV Times at the time of his exit, the actor said: “People think I’m an absolute idiot for leaving Waterloo Road, but hopefully I’ll prove them wrong.
“It wasn’t an easy decision, but you have to take risks and spice things up a bit.
“I love Tom and my last day on set was very emotional, but I want to do all the things that initially appealed to me about becoming an actor, like taking on new projects and stepping out of my comfort zone.”
However, Jason need not have worried, as since leaving Waterloo Road, he hasn’t been short of job offers.
In the years that have followed, he has appeared in Brassic, alongside fellow former Corrie star Michelle Keegan.
Jason has also starred in gripping dramas like Four Lives and Innocent, where he played a pivotal role.
The TV star has also popped up in Death In Paradise and Silent Witness.
