Kev knows exactly who Emmerdale newcomer Serena is – and drops the bombshell on Robert

Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) knew he’d clocked Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) somewhere before, and now the fateful penny drops in Emmerdale.

Serena entered the Dales as a bit of a mystery – becoming Charity’s (Emma Atkins) unwitting confidant when she had a breakdown at the lake. Serena then met Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and explained that they’re family and was quickly offered places to stay by the locals.

All seemed a bit iffy, she said she was Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) cousin, but is she? Turns out she is, so that at least checks out. And so far she seems to be genuine about keeping Charity’s secret. But still, something is not adding up.

Kev knows it – the moment he set eyes on her he knew she isn’t who she says she is – and when he challenged her by saying they’d met, she denied it and scarpered.

Next time their paths crossed, Kev came out with it – he thinks she’s a screw, or prison guard. He’s wrong it would seem, but possibly not far off as she is clearly up to something a bit odd – seemingly digging into what the locals know about mad medic John (Oliver Farnworth).

She raises eyebrows when questioning Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick) about the Nate saga, who tells Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) she’s a bit concerned.

Serena displays some strange behaviour around Robert too, hiding her laptop searches suggesting she’s looking into something she shouldn’t. Moira takes her concern to Robert and tells him she cannot be trusted. Is she some kind of PI? Moira is worried Victoria’s deathly secret is at risk of exposure.

As their worries grow, Kev has a lightbulb moment – he realises exactly where he knows her from.

And as an ex-con who’s been in prison for years, he’s limited in the places he could have met her.
