The pair attempted to fight their feelings but eventually fell in love and Rana confessed everything to Zeedan.

Kate left Weatherfield to go travelling in the far East with Imogen Pascoe six months after Rana’s death
Faye is currently leading the cast in a new UK touring production of the musical Burlesque

Progressing from packing at Underworld to waitressing at Nick’s Bistro, Kate left Weatherfield to go travelling in the far East with Imogen Pascoe six months after Rana’s death.

Faye told the Mirror that she is thrilled that her character made it out of Weatherfield alive and confessed she would jump at the chance to return – on one condition.

She said: “It’s got to be worth it, because I’ve had so much joy playing other characters on stage that have really taught me something.”

Since her departure, the star has had a huge theatre career with starring roles in Chicago, The Sound of Music, Legally Blonde and Shrek: The Musical.

Faye also took part in Dancing On Ice, where she reached the final alongside her partner Matt Evers.

Now, she is playing the lead in a new UK touring production of the musical Burlesque – based on the 2010 film that starred Cher as club owner Tess, who takes aspiring singer Ali (Christina Aguilera) under her wing.

Kate explained that she is delighted to be playing a role that Cher once played and is enjoying the glitter and emotional storyline.

Faye previously teased that she could reprise her role as Kate Connor in Coronation Street at some point in the future.

She told The Express: “I get a lot of, ‘Why is Kate not coming back?’ That’s a really lovely thing to have them want me to come back to Coronation Street, because I [Kate] didn’t die. I’m still alive and travelling, and those [were] doors left open.

“That’s an opportunity to be had in itself. I do love being able to play other characters – I really am continuing to stretch myself as an artist, and I want to keep doing that. [But] that door is open, [and] if that is in my journey, then great.

“It catapulted my career, so I never condemn it. I always celebrate it. That’s what the fans are doing for me at the same time.”
