Wedding whispers are growing louder around Robert Irwin and his new love, Ashleigh Scully.
In fact, a source close to the wildlife warrior, 22, tells New Idea that Robert “has found The One”.
“There is chatter he’s already proposed – after just four months of dating!” our source says.
Robert, 22, and American wildlife photographer Ashleigh, 24, were first spotted together in March. However, they have been friends since 2019.
A romantic clifftop proposal?
The proposal talk ramped up when fans noticed they both shared similarly breathtaking hiking photos from Wyoming’s Teton Range during a holiday in July.
Former I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia host Robert also appeared in one of Ashleigh’s pictures from the romantic getaway.
While neither has confirmed they were exploring together, eagle-eyed followers couldn’t help but wonder whether the scenic backdrop was the location for a life-changing question.
“Proposing on a cliff is exactly the kind of grand adventure Robert would plan,” our insider says with a laugh. “He’s never been one to do things by halves.”
Despite his tender years, “Robert is an old soul,” our source adds.
Of course, he could have also been inspired to take the next step with Ashleigh because his mum, Terri, married Steve Irwin at a relatively young age. His sister, Bindi, also wed Chandler Powell at 21.
A custom engagement ring?
Robert – who will take centre stage as the host of this year’s TV WEEK Logie Awards on August 16 – has even been “inspired by” sister Bindi’s simple yet elegant engagement ring when it potentially comes to picking jewellery for Ashleigh, our source says.
“Bindi’s husband Chandler designed her ring, so don’t be surprised if Robert does the same,” our insider shares.
While there’s no public confirmation they are engaged, that joint holiday signalled “loud and clear” just how serious they are about one another.
“Ashleigh is perfect for Robert – and everyone knows it,” our source says.
Their relationship has even sparked chatter that Robert could move to LA, and his sister Bindi is said to be supporting the decision.
New Idea hears that Robert is about to receive a big offer from Disney, and Bindi doesn’t want him to miss his shot.
“Bindi’s adamant that he not waste his big shot and she wants Terri with him so they can go house-hunting,” the source explains.
“If this deal comes to fruition, he shouldn’t be staying in hotels and rentals, and Bindi wants him to be safe and comfortable, setting up a proper base in LA – with or without [girlfriend] Ashleigh [Scully].”
