Emmerdale star joins Coronation Street for explosive killer storyline set to get ‘much, much darker’

AN Emmerdale star is making a soap swap by joining Coronation Street as part of an explosive storyline.
Actress Emma Grace Arends will appear on the cobbles as part of Sarah Platt’s prison ordeal storyline.

She appeared in Emmerdale back in 2021 and 2023 but will now make her Weatherfield debut.
Sarah is currently in prison awaiting trial for the murder of Todd Grimshaw’s abuser Theo Silverton.
She is being blackmailed in prison after the other inmates discovered her boyfriend Kit Green was a police officer.
A source said: “Things are only going to get worse for Sarah as she faces years in prison for what she’s done. It’s going to get much darker.”
It was revealed to ITV viewers in June that Sarah had murdered Theo back in April.
His death resulted in a two-month long ‘Whodunnit’ storyline with several characters in the frame for the murder.

In flashback scenes, fans saw Sarah hit Theo over the head with a scaffolding pole, causing him to fall to his death.
After the fatal blow, her ex Gary Windass stepped in to help her and hide the weapon.
Sarah was arrested and charged with murder as she adjusts to life in prison ahead of her trial.
Emma confirmed her appearance in Coronation Street with a post on Instagram.
Emma appeared in rival soap Emmerdale on two occasions in guest roles.
Her first stint was in August 2021 when she played a crisis worker supporting Tracy Metcalfe as she battled with severe postnatal depression after the birth of her daughter Frankie.
She then appeared as an unnamed nurse in May 2023 when Chloe Harris’ son was rushed to hospital with bacterial meningitis.
Emma’s other acting credits include roles in films, Pepper Pig: My First Cinema Experience and crime drama Longtails.
