Craig caught out by unexpected character in EastEnders – and a shocking twist follows

The walls start to close in on Craig – and then something shocking happens

EastEnders spoilers follow for Thursday’s (October 22) episode, which can now be streamed on BBC iPlayer. The episode in question will air at 7:30pm.

The identity of the man Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) has been seeing in secret was uncovered by an unexpected Walford legend, who witnessed her getting into Craig Ingram’s (Matthew James Bailey) car.

Former detective Craig, who was sacked after multiple complaints regarding inappropriate relationships, has been grooming Amy – daughter of ex-colleague Jack (Scott Maslen) – for months.

Amy feels like she’s head over heels in love with Craig, who has been emotional manipulating her. Earlier this week, Craig sent intimate pictures of her ex Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) to his family – after blackmailing him out of a grand – in a bid to cruelly punish him over his feelings for Amy.

If that wasn’t harsh enough, he then convinced Amy to take the blame for the incident, knowing the police wouldn’t be involved if she were the culprit given that her dad is a detective.

When Amy was apprehensive, he used her role in Joel Marshall’s (Max Murray) attack to coerce her into it.

Craig is manipulating Amy to get his hands on her money

Once she did as he demanded, Amy suggested that she and Craig leave Walford together – and the mention of her inheritance money left Craig intrigued.

In a bid to get her hands on the cash early, Amy needed help from one of the signatories. With Jack obviously out of the equation given how disappointed he is in the wake of her admission about Denzel’s pictures, Amy instead tracked down uncle Max Branning (Jake Wood) for assistance.

Max, who has more money worries than one could count, was confused about the reason why she wanted early access to her inheritance, disbelieving her claim that it was for college.

But with Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) threatening to tell Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) that he was the one who left Zoe (Michelle Ryan) to die unless she got her hands on a large amount of cash, Max’s apprehension soon waned when Amy offered to loan him the money if he helps her gain access to her inheritance.

Max made a shocking discovery

Max said he’d think about it and, as Amy walked away, he followed for a moment – and spotted her getting into Craig’s car. Horrified, he tracked down brother Jack to reveal the news.

However, upon spotting Cindy – who reminded him that time was running out to pay – Max did what he always does by putting himself first, refraining from telling Jack about the danger his daughter is in. Instead, he called Amy and told him he’d help access her inheritance in exchange for the loan – but that Jack must never know.

Yikes!

Will Max come to regret his actions? Or will he reconsider and put Amy’s welfare above his own? As Craig’s grip tightens, will Amy be saved before they flee the Square?
