EastEnders confirms Max and Cindy aftermath following life-changing week

EastEnders has confirmed the aftermath of Max Branning and Cindy Beale’s dramatic and life-changing week. This week’s scenes saw Max spontaneously propose to Cindy at Vicki Fowler and Ross Marshall’s wedding reception.
She decided to turn it down, and Max subsequently drowned his sorrows with Priya Nandra-Hart – who was also heartbroken after Ravi Gulati ended their relationship.
Max and Priya eventually slept together, though Cindy later decided to row back and accept his proposal after all, unaware that Max had just cheated on her.
EastEnders has now teased what’s coming up for the couple next week, with new pictures showing Max making things official by getting down on one knee again at home with a ring, before the pair embrace.
While they look loved-up and share the news widely, could his secret about Priya jeopardise everything?
It comes ahead of the big flashforward episode on New Year’s Day 2027, which sees Max with a mysterious bride – but is it Cindy? And is Priya pregnant following her one-night stand with Max, or is it Ravi’s baby?
Meanwhile, Cindy actor Michelle Collins recently responded to comparisons between her character’s pairing and the toxic relationship between Den and Angie Watts in the show’s early days.
“A few people have said that, it’s the Den and Angie kind of relationship,” she told Lorraine. “Everyone loves them, and they weren’t even there that long but people still talk about it. I think it’s that sparring, that gives it that spark.”
Speaking further on Cindy and Max, she said: “Cindy didn’t ever know Max, their paths didn’t really cross. She hated him, he’s had a lot of history with her children. I think she was determined not to like him from the very beginning. But as you’ve seen, they’re quite similar.
“I know it’s a bit overused, that narcissistic kind of word, but I think they kind of are. They’ve both been in prison. If she did get married, [this would be] her third marriage. It would be his fifth, apparently. They have very complicated families, estranged children… so it could be a marriage made in heaven or it could be complete and utter hell and chaos.”
