Emmerdale confirms where Robert and Aaron are – but there’s good news

Rest easy, Robron fans. They’re both fine.

Alarm bells are ringing for Emmerdale fans every time Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) and Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) disappear from our screens – and with good reason.

The most dysfunctional yet beloved couple of the Dales haven’t exactly had an easy time lately.

After years of their passionate, volatile – and at times – just plain toxic love story, the couple were finally in a good place last year when Robert was released from prison, after serving time for killing his sister’s rapist.

However, this is soap land, so they were never going to be happy for long.

Their romance was well and truly derailed by the arrival of Robert’s prison hubby, the one and only Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill), the deadliest man in Yorkshire to ever wear a manbun. He was determined to get Rob back at any costs, even if it meant pretending to be terminally ill or attacking Aaron with a great big sword.

Rob and Aaron have been through their fair share of drama.

Obviously Robron’s love conquers all, even maniacs waving bladed weapons, so Kev was sent packing (temporarily) with a broken heart. However, Emmerdale’s answer to Begbie from Trainspotting wasn’t the only threat to Rob and Aaron’s happiness.

Their Christmas celebrations were thrown into chaos by the return of Aaron’s ex husband and Robert’s serial-killing half-brother John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth). His twisted plan to murder Robert and pin the blame on Aaron went awry when the sociopathic Sugden met in his end in the woods after being stabbed by a syringe full of drugs – courtesy of his sister Victoria Sugden (Isobel Hodgins).

Consequently, Victoria fled to Portugal to stay until the heat died down, leaving Rob heartbroken over the loss of his sister.

Then a new dawn broke from Robron.

When Cain and Moira were forced to give up Butler’s farm, Robert finally reclaimed his father Jack’s legacy, becoming the first Sugden to live at Butler’s since Andy Sugden left in 2009. It’s just a shame it had to come at the cost of framing Moira Dingle for people trafficking and modern slavery at the behest of arch schemer Joe Tate (Ned Porteous).

But just when Robron fans thought they could breathe again, guess who’s rocking back up to the village? The man-bunned menace himself, Kev Towsend.

Kev is back to cause chaos… and serve cakes.

That’s right. Yorkshire’s scariest barista is back and embroiled in a chilling kidnap plot involving his long lost son Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches). But while Lewis is the centre of the drama for Kev’s return, viewers are quite rightly fearing for Robert and Aaron’s safety… especially seeing as Robert never got that divorce from Kev, meaning the two are unable to marry.

Will Robrob end up in Kev’s sights? Let’s hope not. Especially with a murder round the corner in the village.

Not to worry. In this sneak peak, Ross Barton (Michael Parr) gets an update on Rob and Aaron’s whereabouts after a conversation with Ryan Stocks (James Moore).

The resident badboy of the Dales is clearly concerned for his little brother Lewis’ safety as he asks Ryan where Robert is. When he gets only clever quips back in return, Ross calls Robert in a panic and quizzes him about Kev.

There’s a reason why Robert’s not around to talk to Ross personally – it turns out he and Aaron are in Portugal. The couple are taking a well-deserved rest after all the recent drama by visiting Victoria.

Robert’s clearly getting into the holiday spirit, as his less-than-helpful answers to Ross’s questions about Kev leave the badboy more frustrated than before. ”You’ve been great.’ Ross snaps. ‘Have a nice holiday. Hope the plane doesn’t crash on the way back!’

Charming!
