EastEnders’ Jake Wood reveals Max Branning’s true love amid flashforward plot

EastEnders star Jake Wood has spoken about who he thinks Max Branning’s true love is amid his ongoing wedding plot. The soap aired a flashforward on New Year’s Day this year to exactly one year in the future, showing Max marrying a mystery bride.
The character is currently engaged to Cindy Beale – though whether she is the woman in question remains to be seen – and the actor has now dished on whether she really is the love of his life.
“A marriage could work between those two, but they’re very complicated characters, bringing a lot of history to the table,” Jake admitted to TV Times. “And we’ve seen Max have feelings for Linda Carter.”
However, on who he thinks is truly the one, the star shared: “I think he would drop everything to be with Stacey.
“Has he got it in him to be faithful? I think so… but it would be really boring to watch, wouldn’t it?!”
Max and Stacey famously had an affair that was dramatically unveiled in secret video footage on Christmas Day 2007, becoming one of the soap’s most iconic moments.
Meanwhile, the current storyline saw Max and Cindy recently get engaged, though he ended up having a night of passion with Priya Nandra-Hart after Cindy initially rejected his proposal.
Cindy is currently unaware of the affair, though it hangs over the couple’s engagement party next week, especially when Cindy gets Priya to help with preparations for the celebration. As tensions rise between the two women, Priya issues a warning to Max.
“Priya’s words are ringing in Max’s ears as the engagement party begins, and it’s clear that she loves toying with him, while providing the perfect distraction from our own troubles,” our insider said.
“She certainly makes her presence felt at the party, but is she there to cause trouble – or show Max what he’s missing?”
