Coronation Street star quits soap after six and a half years – and has already filmed exit scenes

Nina has been a firm fan-favourite with Coronation Street fans since 2019

CORONATION Street star Mollie Gallagher has confirmed she has quit the ITV soap after nearly seven years.

The actress, 28, is known for portraying Nina Lucas on the cobbles, but has already filmed the character’s exit.

Mollie has already filmed her final scenes on the cobbles and is set to depart from screen in August.

A spokesperson for Coronation Street confirmed: “Mollie has created a unique and well loved character in Nina over the past six and a half years and everyone will be sorry to see her go.”

The Sun has reached out to Mollie for comment.

Mollie won’t be enjoying a quieter pace of life for long, as she has already secured her next role.

Her next role has already been confirmed, with Mollie set to join a stage production of The Silence of The Lambs

The star is swapping the screen for the stage as she will be making her stage debut as Clarice Starling in the UK and Ireland tour of Silence of the Lambs.

The role was announced on Monday morning, with Mollie yet to speak out on the news publicly.

Mollie joined Corrie back in 2019 and it has been her only acting appearance so far.

Her character is the niece of Corrie veteran Roy Cropper.

Nina has been involved in numerous storylines throughout her run, with Roy transferring ownership of his business Roy’s Rolls to her back in episodes which aired in 2020.

In 2023, she appeared in ITV’s Dancing On Ice and narrowly missed out on a place in the final.

The actress wowed viewers as she attempted the head-banger with a shopping trolley ahead of Props week.

She was paired with Sylvain Longchambom.
