Dawn’s exit story may trigger yet another Emmerdale goodbye

The green-eyed monster appears in Emmerdale soon, as Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) makes a discovery about her ex Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle).

Dawn and Billy’s marriage fell apart due to Dawn having an affair with Joe Tate (Ned Porteous). She chose to explore a new relationship with Joe over staying with Billy, the man she shares three children with.

While Dawn and Joe have navigated their romance, Billy has remained single, trying to build a new life for himself.

Things changed this week in the ITV soap though, as Billy started flirting with Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham).

A new romance between them has the potential to be quite challenging, as Gabby lives with Dawn. While Dawn claims that she’s moved on from Billy, seeing him with someone else for the first time is another thing entirely.

In scenes that will air soon, Dawn’s worry about how her children will react to their dad’s new relationship causes her to tell Gabby and Billy that they should delay sharing the news with Clemmie, Lucas and Evan.

Gabby feels irritated, but is later hopeful that her connection with Billy might actually be genuine when he makes an effort to show his support against Laurel’s unhealthy menu at The Hide.

Later, Clemmie sees Gabby and Billy kiss, so she heads to ask Dawn what’s going on.

Young Clemmie is seemingly accepting of the relationship, but it’s clear at this point that Dawn is struggling.

As Dawn’s jealousy begins to bubble away, it’s set to have an impact on her relationship with Joe Tate (Ned Porteous).

When Gabby shares her theory that Dawn still has feelings for Billy, Joe begins to wonder if she’s right.

Considering Dawn and Joe’s wedding is round the corner, now is not the time for Dawn’s eyes to start wandering back to Billy.

We know that Olivia Bromley is leaving her role as Dawn, which suggests the big Tate ceremony is going to end in disaster.

For a while, it seemed as though Dawn might leave the village on her own, but with her feelings for Billy set to resurface, could they reunite and depart together?

There currently isn’t any indication that Jay Kontzle is leaving his role as Billy, but this information could easily be kept hidden as part of a storyline twist.
