Blade-wielding Kev vows to finish Ross in Emmerdale after explosive discovery
Kev Townsend is really being tested

The following article contains spoilers from the episode of Emmerdale dated July 10. It hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX and YouTube.
Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) lost his cool in Emmerdale today and threatened Ross Barton (Michael Parr). Mind you, he did it with a cake slicer of all items, which I suppose still counts as growth.
The former criminal with a man-bun returned to the village with the intention of getting to know his son Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches). He isn’t interested in Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) anymore, or committing any crimes, he just wants to form a relationship with Lewis.
This has been easier said than done. While Lewis has decided to give Kev a chance, Ross Barton (Michael Parr) and Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) have remained thorns in Kev’s side. Neither of them want Kev in the village, and have spent the past week believing that it wouldn’t be long until he broke Lewis’ heart.
Kev hasn’t shown any sign of doing this though, so someone decided to push him in the direction of the village exit sign by robbing the cafe.
When Lewis and Nicola discovered the state of the cafe, they quickly assumed that Kev was behind it. They headed to the Anderson household to get answers from Lewis’ dad, who was baking some pancakes for breakfast.
Lewis pondered over Kev’s comments that he’s innocent and wondered if he was telling the truth. He then noticed his bakery van wasn’t locked up. Inside, Lewis found the cash box from the cafe. Kev had been royally framed by someone – but who?
It turns out it was Ross. Not particularly surprising, but what was surprising is that Nicola was his accomplice.
Yes, Nicola robbed her own cafe.
Ross seemed pretty satisfied with his plan. He had even spent the majority of the evening with Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) to create an alibi for himself.

The mistake he made was telling Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) all about it. At the moment, Ross doesn’t know that Mack has found out about baby Leyla. He’s sensed that his mate is acting differently, but Mack is doing his best to ignore his desperate need for violent revenge.
Instead of unleashing his anger at Ross, Mackenzie headed to see new friend Kev. He blurted out that Ross framed him, and his comments left Kev wondering why Mackenzie was so keen to drop Ross in it.
It didn’t take long for Kev to work out that Ross is the man Charity slept with. By this point, the man had been wound up so much, he didn’t have a problem with threatening Ross.
In Dale View, Kev sat with a caker slicer (yes) in his hand, and instructed Ross to tell Lewis that he set the robbery up with Nicola. Ross wasn’t going to do this, so Kev’s next move was to calmly place the cake slicer on the table, and rugby tackle Ross to the ground.

Poor Kev had messed up big time. Lewis arrived and found Kev pinning Ross to the ground. He was devastated and told him to leave. Kev tried to protest his innocence again, but the fact that he had threatened Ross had just fuelled Lewis’ theory that he did rob the cafe.
His relationship with his son over already, Kev started to spiral. In the pub toilets, he approached Ross and told him that he knows his secrets, and that there’s plenty of people in the village who hate his guts.
Kev seemed certain that it wouldn’t be long until these people come for Ross and believed that when this happens, he’s ‘done’.
Ross isn’t the sort of man who get scared easily, but he most certainly looked worried in this moment.
Is Ross’ life about to fall apart?
